    Well put together

Comments about Hal Leonard Lick Library Learn Guitar Techniques: Rockabilly DVD:

This DVD has 5 lessons and corresponding jam tracks in a rockabilly style. The lessons are demonstrated at a nice slow pace so you can pick the material up. I like that he names the notes he's playing to help beginners learn the neck vs. saying "play your 2nd string at the 9th fret" implying "whatever that is". The video and audio quality is good, and the video uses a main shot showing the body and right hand (strumming hand), while a closeup box of the left hand (fretting hand) shows clearly what's going on there. There is no music notation or tab which is usually a short-coming of DVD video lessons, but it's a good lesson overall. It is more of a rockabilly lick and solo instruction than really going into styles of particular players. He talks briefly about the effects he is implying and how to set the levels etc. It doesn't assume much prior guitar playing knowledge, on the other hand, you aren't going to learn that stuff here. You're going to learn some licks. Overall a good instruction video that does what you would expect from something under the "lick library" banner.

Comments about Hal Leonard Lick Library Learn Guitar Techniques: Rockabilly DVD:

Very good video on the basic techniques used in a majority of the ol' rockabilly tunes most of us are familiar with. The instructor does a very good job at both speeds (slow/fast) in demonstrating the different techniques and also expounds on the little odd bits that are either awkward or difficult to learn. I'm a metal head who loves Horton Heat, Setzer, Cash, etc., and learned a lot, breaking me out of my "zone" when learning from this dvd.

Comments about Hal Leonard Lick Library Learn Guitar Techniques: Rockabilly DVD:

i only wish i could spend more time with mr. travato personally, and jam with him.he is a fantastic teacher, gets straight to the point, and i wish all dvd instructional videos were this remarkable.it ends much too quickly, with a thousand question marks in your head, wishing it was 10 hours long. it is like having a personal guitar instructor in your home, at your convience.cool!
