Classic scale and arpeggio studes, as well as supplemental matrial, to enhance your saxophone playing.
Revised and edited by Harvey S. Whistler, Pares Scaes for Saxophone features the classic scale and arpeggio studies of Gabriel Parès which were adapted in the 1940s for like-instrument study by Rubank's Whistler and are now the standard for elementary scale instruction. Presenting all the major keys up to four flats/sharps (and the relative minors), each unit also includes long tone and embouchure studies. Supplemental material includes comprehensive chromatic scales, fingering and speed studies, and lip slurs.

Comments about Hal Leonard Pares Scales For Saxophone:
I am a music teacher and EVERY student who uses these books and practices from them makes All District Band in my area. Learning scales for auditions by rote (memorized) is one thing but recognizing the notes and playing scales in a variety of rhythms makes the student a fantastic sight reader! My adult students have become confident faster by working from this book as well. Not every scale is included but some of the minors are plus lip slur exercises in each key and long tones to strengthen embouchures.
