I have a great deal of reading material on the bass guitar. This book, without a doubt, is the best all around book out there on all aspects of the bass and bass playing in general. I highly recommend this book to all novices and pros out there. You won't be disappointed.

This book is a nice overview of various things bass related. It's not a true instructional or a true reference book. There's a chapter on different styles, kind of snippets from the other hal leonard books. There's bass player bios from Flea to marcus miller to jaco. as well as newbie stuff like how to change strings and how a bass is built.
