Everything you need to know to master the electric bass.
Solid, musical bass lines are the foundation for any band's sound, and this in-depth lesson by bassist David Gross provides a wealth of information, practical exercises, and musical examples to help you become a better player.
This 2-DVD set teaches you all the fundamentals you'll need to create your own bass playing style. You'll become a more fluid and literate musician--and an asset to any band--regardless of what type of music you like to play. Both lessons feature dynamic play-alongs with David and his band.
Lesson One: Scales, Modes, and Their Applications
The first DVD tutorial shows exercises to strengthen your hands and develop your musical ear as a bassist. David takes you through scales and modes in every position, adding octave patterns, arpeggios, rhythm grooves, and other devices to expand your musical vocabulary. Learn to transpose; hear rhythmic changes; and understand intervals, chord substitutions, and voicings. Includes dozens of practice patterns and exercises.
Lesson Two: Further Mastery of Scales & Modes
The second DVD tutorial explores scales and modes in greater depth so you can create inventive solos and become a well-rounded musician. You'll learn to identify and play intervals, then master 14 patterns that can be used to create original bass lines and propel any band. David shows you how to build an exciting arsenal of grooves, add a variety of scales to your lines, discover more exotic ways to play the blues, and gives numerous practice exercises.

Comments about Homespun Mastering the Electric Bass 2-DVD Set:
Ok so I got these Dvds the same time i got Feekbass rock house funk videos, and man were they ever different! This dvd is full of stuff you need to learn to be a great bass player but your going to have to go through it for at least a few times. A lot of what he talks about is memorization and its easy to get lost. If you don't have most if not all scales and modes down Then you should start with an easier DVD and move up to this but it is worth the investment if you put in the time to study.
