This DVD set is a must have for those bassists wanting to embark on a new direction in their playing style.
Two high quality DVDs with superb sound reproduction and fabulous camera work. Victor has six accomplished bass players in his master class; and his friend/bassist extraordinaire, and teacher Anthony Wellington at his side.
After listening to the first DVD I started approaching my bass playing from a different perspective.The teaching methods Victor uses are ground breaking- to say the least.
If you feel you are in a bit of a rut; that your bass playing is from a technical source only; you will be set free by these DVDs.
The camera work makes you feel as though you're in the class. It is very inviting. However, they would not play in my I Mac intel computer. I don't know if it was that I didn't have the right player or that they were intended to be played through a regular DVD player.

The Groove Workshop DVD is an excellent aid for getting musicianship into your playing. The lessons are simple enough that a beginner could follow along, but in-depth enough that that same beginner could be discovering new layers from the same material for years to come. A bit of the material deals with the flashy techniques and whatnot, but most of it deals with some of the more intangible aspects of playing music. It's long, but Victor and Anthony have ways to hold your attention throughout the production.On the other hand, I'm not sure what the shipping guy at Musician's Friend was thinking when they tossed the 2-DVD set loosely into an unpadded thin plastic UPS envelope. The case was almost completely smashed, and the DVDs were basically sliding around inside, unprotected. I'm lucky I didn't get a couple of scratched/broken unplayable DVDs.
