I have to agree with the other reviews on this one...unless you want to learn like 3 seconds from a few Floyd songs, this DVD will do you no good. The goofiness pf the instructor is also pretty distracting...You have been warned.
If you are a Floyd Freak as I am, you may enjoy this DVD. Curt Mitchell (sp) does a pretty good job recreating the guitar sound of David Gilmour, but I had hoped him would have gone a lot more in-depth into the pedal effects used and how to use them.I took up guitar mainly to recreat the Floyd/Gilmour sound, and by slowing down this DVD one can learn the fingering moves.
The "in the style of" series isn't so much about learning to play guitar as it is memorizing licks. No theory nor in depth lessons on "why" or "how" just Mitchell up there playing riffs/licks that are best known to each artist (I have 5 of these vids and they are all the same thing). Some have a small quickie section on how to obtain a particular artists "sound" as well. Which I found fairly worthless. So, basically the series is a demonstrating version of tabs. OK if you just want to memorize a few licks to MAYBE impress your friends? (if playing 1-2 riffs of a song strung together disjointedly is impressive to them? in other words you won't be playing any actual SONGS, but instead snippets)but with no understanding of why or how to expand on your own.
Very poor quality, no notes or tablature during lessons, instructor looks straight from the 80's and talks like he may have toked up too many times and did I mention POOOOOR QUATLITY!
I could go on and on about the short comings of this DVD, but I will just tell you, buy this only if you are an advanced player. Wish I could get my money back.
