Ask me a question

As this year 2004 marks the return of the most important and influential guitarist since Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, we find ourselves surrounded by tons of merchandise with his name on it: From stripe guitars specially made by Charvel Guitars and a Phase pedal made by Dunlop among other things. But anyrate, As I came back to play guitar after 8 years and seeing this video that was very appealing from its cover here is my honest opinion. Curt Mitchell is EXTREMELY knowledgeable as far as everything that has to do with Eddie's sound, from the pedals he used from their first album, the kind of sound he got in that first album up to For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge(this was filmed in 1993). I was very impressed by Curt's knowlegde of Eddie and he seemed to be the best teacher for everyone that wants to apply some ideas into your sound without imitating Eddie, hopefully!!!.However(here are the negative remarks) the video quality is terrible. I suggest you get it on DVD. When I bought it a month ago I didnt know about this and because of the non returnable guidelines of Musicians Friend, Im stuck with a video of 3rd or 4th generation quality. Overall this is my only negative comment.. the quality on VHS is horrendous.. run and get the DVD.. this should be a must for any aspiring guitarist that wants a clear cut idea of the genious that Eddie Van Halen really is so it can inspire your playingP.S. Eddie's son, Wolfgang is playing with him at their 2004 tour.. so watch out!!!
