Comments about Allora AAFG-103F Series Bb Flugelhorn:

This is a beautiful horn both physically and tone wise. As previous reviewers have stated it has a deep smokey tone which is exactly what I was looking for. I love the two tone finish. Valves move smoothly right out of the case. It's a pleasure to play this horn every time. Definitely worth the price, except for the case. It is very cheaply made and there is no space to store valve oil or other small items you may need. The horn is what gets the 5 stars!

Comments about Allora AAFG-103F Series Bb Flugelhorn:

For the price I have been very happy with the Allora Flugelhorn. I purchased this to play occasionally in Jazz, Wind Ensemble and Orchestra pieces. I am not a professional by any means, so I just wanted to have a flugel for the sound knowing it would not get played more than a dozen or so times per year.

The valves are pretty stiff so far, but they have never once stuck and that is a good thing. I think they will continue to loosen up as I play more.

The case is pretty lame. Another reviewer called it basic. The case weighs maybe 1 lb total. I purchased the Protec Delux Flugel bag for it and am very happy with that as well. You could use the case for a while, but I think that most people would want a better one for transport.

I also purchased the K&M Fluegelhorn stand with 5 legs and it fits great, both as the stand, but also in the horn while placed in the Protec bag.

Overall, I could not be happier with the purchase and expect to play on this for many years to come.

Comments about Allora AAFG-103F Series Bb Flugelhorn:

Right out of the box this horn has performed above my expectations. The horn itself is very appealing to the eyes. Tone is rich and mellow and a bit dark. Valves are responsive and perform well. The mouthpiece that came with it is an F1 and conforms to my playing purposes since I am used to playing with a Bach 7C on the Bb trumpet. The horn case is a bit on the generic side. Overall this flugelhorn is well worth the money and will not disappoint. I am a satisfied customer.

Comments about Allora AAFG-103F Series Bb Flugelhorn:

Get a better mouthpiece than the one included with the horn. It will improve the sound dramatically.

Also, burnish the valves and the valve action will be very responsive.

This horn is a great value for the money. I plan to use it much more than I originally planned because I love the mellowness of the sound for many jazz and ballad songs.

Comments about Allora AAFG-103F Series Bb Flugelhorn:

I played trumpet and flugelhorn throughout high school but I've never owned my own (I always rented the school's). So after almost 2 years of being hornless since high school I went looking for a horn online. I knew I wanted a flugelhorn b/c it suited my needs best (and frankly I like them more than a trumpet) but the prices are usually insane. when I saw this horn I knew I wanted it and a few weeks later it was on sale so I bought it.
Anyways it's been a few days now and I'm loving the horn. The tone in unreal, nice and warm, smooth, and a little dark. The look of it is stunning, the construction seems solid so far. The extendible lead pipe and 3rd valve trigger are a must on a flugel horn (though the intonation on this horn when playing the third valve is actually pretty nice)
The only complaints I have are the case (which is decent but not the most reassuring) and the mouthpiece (which is decent but feels a little shallow and makes it a little difficult to keep a note steady but that's probably cause I'm used to a Bach flugel mouthpiece)
Other than that zero complaints, if you've looking for a flugelhorn that'll deliever w/o breaking the bank, this is it.
            Cheers

            Good horn for the money

Comments about Allora AAFG-103F Series Bb Flugelhorn:

Great horn for the money, plays well in tune, but I recommend getting a different mouthpiece, the Yamaha Bobby Shew is great (for me anyhow). I gets a bit squirrley in the upper register (solid to a high C then it breaks down a bit). Tonation is good through out.
Has everything you need to play about anything, though the mouthpiece that comes with it is very generic.
Valves are the lowest quality part on the horn, they are a bit sticky and are cheap, but for the price what do you expect.
Overall it is a great values as long as you understand what it is you are getting, this is not a pro horn, but it is a tremendous value, especially if you catch it on sale as I did.

            Nice horn

Comments about Allora AAFG-103F Series Bb Flugelhorn:

I like the trigger, (my Eterna doesn't have one), it works smooth and helps intonation at the low end. I certainly like the look, as all my other horns up to this point were silver plated. This gives me another option for sound. A very nice surprise for the money.
The only slight issue I have is that my K&M stand doesn't fit the bell, so I have to locate a different style to fit the bell better.
This horn has nice looks, nice sound and decent fit. Love the Rose Brass Bell with both gold laquer and silver areas, they make the horn a feast for the eyes.
For what I paid for this horn, it is just as good as my Getzen Eterna II. It gives me a little darker smokey tone. Great for those ballads. This may just become my main Flugel for big band. The valves require a bit of break-in, but they move smooth and quick. I was surprised to see they were bottom sprung valves. But, I think the stroke is just a tad shorter than my Getzen, so, those quick smooth changes will run just a bit quicker. So far, so good.
What a nice surprise to get such a nice feeling, sounding horn for less than half the cost of my other flugel.
