I love the look and finish. It looks really sharp! It comes with a 7C mouthpiece, but it plays better with my 3C. The valves are very smooth. Some of the notes are flat, but I expected that. It's not designed for performing, just fun and practice. And it uses full size straight mutes. That's a Jo-Ral in the photo.

Comments about Allora MXPT-5801-BK Black Nickel Series Pocket Trumpet:

Surprisingly good practice horn for the price. Keep your lip in shape when you don,t want to drag a normal horn.

Valves are good, as always with a new horn lots of oil every time and wipe valves and chamber every play for first week, then once a week, for a first month till broken in. Then oil daily and clean monthly.

Lacquer a bit rough behind valves where it isn't easily seen.

      Great looking and playing trumpet

Comments about Allora MXPT-5801-BK Black Nickel Series Pocket Trumpet:

I bought this trumpet for my girlfriend who played in the marching band in high school about 20 years ago. We were both floored at the fit and finish of this trumpet...it's really beautiful in the black lacquer finish. The valves needed lubrication, but that is a simple and expected piece of maintenance. Make no mistake, this is a real trumpet and the tone and volume are on par with her full sized student Yamaha instrument. It's slightly more difficult to play and I'm not sure about the intonation at the upper register, but this thing is fun.

This pocket trumpet looks cool and plays fine. The short tubes are very tight in the horn and you will need to clean and oil the valves and slides. Made in China (or course). The case is decent. It's hard to beat this horn for the money.

Comments about Allora MXPT-5801-BK Black Nickel Series Pocket Trumpet:

The valves are very sticky because of the Gardinelli oil, I used Blue Juice by Roberts Engineering and it loosend them up nicely, problem solved. Bigger bag would fit a mute and some sheet music.I'm thinking of getting an asymetric mouthpiece to help me gain some endurance and high register... would be nice considering I'm just starting out.

              Very nice

Comments about Allora MXPT-5801-BK Black Nickel Series Pocket Trumpet:

This pocket trumpet is quite nice for the cost, and the finish, fit, sound, mechanics, are quite surprisingly good. The case is more than I expected also. It matches my combo Pro-Tec case I bought from Musiciansfriend.com last year. I know I will get years of use from this horn. And the shipping is great from here.
I was impressed with what came out of this pocket trumpet. It sounds nice, valves are smooth and quick. The finish and look are great.
The slides move nice and free, The look is very clean. Plating is very sharp looking, along with the etching, very classy.
For the price, it is better than what I ever expected. This horn will jump out at you. It plays a little different than my 8310ZS, but, that is to be expected. I just let it sing.
