The GTR-512 can definitely hang with best and is worth considering in your search for a great playing horn

This is a great horn that can keep up with my Bach Strad 37 lightweight, 1938 Buescher 400, 1941 LA Olds Super, and definitely better than my student model horns(1952 LA Olds Ambassador, 1963 Holton Collegiate, Holton T602). I bought this horn to play at my more roudy gigs in the bars so I don't have to worry about my other horns that cost a lot of money or have a lot of sentimental value. In doing that, I wanted a horn that I could be happy with during my gig and not have to think to myself, "Dang, I wish I would've brought a different horn tonight." This horn fulfills that need and I will definitely be taking it to future SXSW gigs in Austin. The GTR-512 holds in my hands similarly to my Bach. My Bach is a lighweight, but I would only imagine that a standard weight probably plays like this horn. Just by comparing the side views of my Bach and the 512, it looks like the taper of the bell is similar to the 37 bell. The sound is very warm, full, and just overall nice with a good all around tone and play in all registers. With the right mouthpiece, it can play pretty dark or light up a room. I say,"GO FOR IT!"...especially if you can find a killer deal like I did.
Has the same features as my Bach Strad... 1st slide thumb saddle, square shaped tuning slide, 3rd slide(adjustable), 3rd slide stop, ML bore .459
Horn is made very well
I picked up my lacquered 512 in like new condition for on ebay. I feel the current price tag is worth it. It just depends on how you look at things... you can buy a brand new Toyota or a good used BMW for about the same price. Both are going to treat you well, but one is going to be brand spankin new. Even still, a used Bach Strad or other pro horn is probably still going to cost more.

We must have gotten a lemon. We've had this trumpet for about three years. Its junk. We have been disappointed from the beginning. We had to have one of the support brackets re-welded. The keys stick to the point one has to raise them manually. Made in Czech Republic which is notorious for poor quality instruments.

Giardinelli 512 in Black

By Pope-2G1Wv

from Oklahoma

Comments about Giardinelli GTR 512 Professional Trumpet:

I've owned the black model for almost 4 years. I don't play often now, maybe 5-6 performances a year. This trumpet suits me well. I purchased it through Musicians Friend and noticed that the price is now more than double what they were selling for then, so I feel that I got a tremendous value. Very nice, rich, dark sound. The sound will not get lost when playing with others. I think this would be an excellent horn for the beginner player or the intermediate player like myself. I think that the advanced player could still find this trumpet useful due to its dark sound.

Comments about Giardinelli GTR 512 Professional Trumpet:

I ordered a the black giardinelli GTR 312B student trumpet and a few weeks later the black paint started comin off and it looks really bad and they say that the 2 year coverage doesn't cover it, so i would not recommend it to anyone because i was disappointed but the tone is great and loud.

Comments about Giardinelli GTR 512 Professional Trumpet:

this trumpet is a very good trumpet for what it is selling for...this trumpet is very well made and very good a playing. i am a fouth year trumpet player in concert and marching band. i have had this trumpet for three years and it has proved to be absolutely fantastic. the valves have worked amazingly from the begining. i didnt have to oil my valves for months....i have never had any issues with it at all. the instrument is very reliable, plays great, the valves never stick, the slides are very easy to work with, the "cheater" slide works very well. This trumpet is excellect and worth every cent of the money.

Comments about Giardinelli GTR 512 Professional Trumpet:

I got my black horn on 03/15/2004. After trying a few mouthpieces, I found the one that turned this baby loose. An incredibly smooth, clean 3 octave range opened that wouldn't quit all night. I play in a strong trumpet section on a big band that does heavy-duty charts. This horn stood up to the Sandoval, Yamaha, & Bach Strad the other cats have...BUY THIS HORN!!!

    Not bad for the price

    By myk laaary

Comments about Giardinelli GTR 512 Professional Trumpet:

I got this instrument in Black and my first impression was the the round dark tone, which is perfect for my playing style...But I had to play some calypso this past weekend and it lacked the brilliance that's required from lead horn players in that genre of music. I'm yet to try it out in my regular jazz/soul/funk/reggae style gigs but something tells me this horn will not disappoint.

    The Best Trumpet Ever

    By Ravi Desai

    from Sinking Spring,PA

Comments about Giardinelli GTR 512 Professional Trumpet:

I bought the Giardinelli GTR 512 Professional Trumpet in silver and I fell in love with it. The tone is so good...the pistons move so fast, the fastest pistons I have ever seen and the slides move well too. But defiantly use a different mouth piece cause it comes with a thick wall mouth piece and its a 7C. I personally play the 5C but what ever floats your boat. Plus it came with a case with space to put all your mutes and i personally like that. It looks good too. Its just a beautiful trumpet with a great tone specifically when you play the high notes. I went from practicing every other day to playing everyday. The first trumpet who is county band, state jazz, and districts in my school even said, " This horn sounds better than mine" or something like that.

I've had this trumpet for about 7 months now and I love it. It has great sound quality. The slides don't stick which is great because I've always had that problem. I play a couple hours a day and I rarly have to oil the valves. If you're looking for a great trumpet at a great price I strongly suggest this one!
