After having a great experience with the trumpet version of this case, I ordered this for my daughter's trombone. It's a fine case ... lightweight with good protection for the instrument. But there's a problem with the handle: it's off-balance with the instrument in the case. If they'd move the handles back (away from the bell)an inch or two, it would balance. But now it's tail-heavy.
We bought the Giardinelli Premium Lightweight Trombone Case to replace the 45 year old original and battered case for a "family" trombone. At the time of purchase, our 7th grader's school had no lockers or bandroom storage for the students, so they had to carry all their belongings with them every day. Because she had to carry her heavy bookbag, too, we wanted a lightweight case. The case is nicely designed with good storage inside, and it's good looking, but it was not up to the abuse our preteen gave it. Within one semester it feel apart, and we had to buy another case. We purchased a solid, heavy duty case this time. It's a good case, but it wasn't a good value for our purposes, and I would not buy another one for my child.
This case is very protective and a great deal. I tried the Gator case first and it was basically a box. I exchanged it for this one and couldn't be happier. This case hase a great compartment for the slide and mouthpiece. I like that it doesn't have a molded compartment for the bell piece (top). Some cases do and that means you have to reset the tuning slide each time you take your trombone out. However, the case should have straps that hold it in place. I'm surprised it doesn't have it.
