Brass-Saver brass cleaning brushes are a must for any brass player. Sediments that collect inside brass tubing can impede sound, playability and sanitation. The trumpet set includes the mouthpipe pull-thru brush and a double-ended stick brush for valve casings and tubing, designed to fit through the narrowest of mouthpipes. The versatile slide pull-thru brush fits even the third valve slide, and the valve and tubing brush is so rugged it gets in and really scrubs the tubing and valve casings.

With the trombone set, you can clean out your entire trombone slide in one simple step. The larger slide brush will clean both the outer and tuning slides. The smaller mouthpipe brush is specially designed to fit the narrowing in the mouthpipe.

The tuba set includes a mouthpipe pull-thru brush, a slide pull-thru brush, and a valve and tubing brush, which together make the ultimate cleaning system for the big job of keeping the big horn in great playing shape.

Comments about H.W. Brass-Saver Cleaning Brushes:

My intent was to replace a plastic coated, metal-snake brush with an affordable cleaning brush that wouldn't catch on edges and leave debris like the previous. Overall, this product performs the same functions (+1 more) and poses less risk to the instrument. It requires more knowledge of the instrument to use... so, students, learn your trumpet/cornet anatomy well.
a Initially, I avoided buying this eccentric-looking brush and kept searching-- but I'm not sorry I capitulated. This brush can be threaded down the bell-piped with relative ease and pulls (gently, of course) through all valve slides. It totally cleans a trumpet, though it failed to get around the last bend (after the tuning slide) on the lead-pipe of my cornet. Perfection is elusive. It came closer than metal snakes, nonetheless.

Yes: buy if you want a product that's functional. Do not buy if one missed bend is going to drive you crazy. I'm obviously still playing my cornet. Good enough for me.

Comments about H.W. Brass-Saver Cleaning Brushes:

I have not experienced any issues with this in the 4-5 years I have been using it. I did encounter one student who claimed his valve was scratched by the brush. I don't see how that could have happened. I use the pull through brush after playing to dry out the lead pipe and tuning slide. It cuts way down on the gunk buildup. It fits through my small bore cornet fine, although it takes quite a bit of force to pull it through. I see no evidence of any weakening of the pull cord.

Comments about H.W. Brass-Saver Cleaning Brushes:

I've had my Brass Saver (trombone) for a couple of years and use it regularly on my Conn 88-H (large bore) and P-bone (small bore). I've had no problems at all with shedding bristles or durability. I swab my slide out after almost every playing session, and it helps keep the combination of moisture and bacteria from growing inside your slide. You still want to thoroughly clean your horn with a bath every month or so, but using the Brass Saver (regularly) makes your major cleaning a breeze. One minor caveat: The picture of the Trombone Brass Saver on this site is inaccurate. What you get is a single brush, not two. That said, still highly recommended!

Hairs pull out, too soft. Useless.

Comments about H.W. Brass-Saver Cleaning Brushes:

I expected so much more when I got this. The wire to pull through is plastic that I feel like will snap at any time. The brush is extremely soft - useless to get out grime. Further, as I use it, the soft hairs of the brush just fall off leaving them everywhere - inside and around my tuba. Look for something else, because this isn't waht you want.
