      OVERVIEW

The Holton TR160 Series F Attachment Trombone has the light flexibility to play as a tenor while but is also heavy enough to play as a bass. This adaptive instrument has a rich, dark sound and easefully plays low-range notes without reducing volume. Its 9 rose brass bell projects a grand, full sound. This trombone has a .547 bore, short-stroke string rotor linkage, a chrome-plated nickel silver inner slide, and a nickel silver outer slide. A grand, responsive instrument, this trombone is surprisingly comfortable to hold. It comes with a mouthpiece and a deluxe wood shell case. The Holton TR160 is in a lacquer finish.

With a 9" rose brass bell it produces a huge, beautiful sound.

      Best trombone I have had!

      By Jeffrey M C

      from Pensacola, Florida

Comments about Holton TR160 Series F Attachment Trombone:

This trombone is very flexible. With a Shilke size 59 mouthpiece, I have been able to play very flexibly in the high and low registers. I sometimes switch between that one for low range work, and the holton 6 1/2 AL that came with the horn. Beatiful instrument, I am proud to play on it! I owned a Bach horn before, but the quality of this horn meets or exceeds the same value at a lower cost!

      SURPRISE: What A Great Trombone!!!

      By Norlan Bewley

      from Dayton, Ohio

Comments about Holton TR160 Series F Attachment Trombone:

The Holton TR 160 is the best large bore tenor trombone I've ever played! I was not very familiar with the Holton trombones and had been playing a Bach 42 open wrap and then a 42 with a Thayer valve. They are fine trombones, but the Holton 160 is much more flexible with a great focused tone and intonation. It really projects! The range is very easy and even from pedals to the high range (some other reviews comment on the high range, but I find it easier than on other horns). The F attachment is fast and matches the straight horn better than ANY trigger I've played, Thayer included. The slide is extremely smooth and fast, and is a little narrower than on the Bach, which I like. The nickel silver slide is lighter than a standard Bach slide, but not as light as their light-weight slide. Try Reka SuperSlide on it; it's even better than Slide-O-Mix, which is terrific. I wasn't sure if I would like the 9 inch bell, but it responds very well. The tone is very full and rich without being too heavy. I have the option of choosing from all the major brands: Bach, Conn, Benge, Yamaha, Edwards, King, etc. and the Holton is easily my favorite. What a surprise!!! Great price, too!
