OVERVIEW

Jet Tone mouthpieces were legendary throughout the '60s and '70s as commercial trumpet players sought to expand their range. The Jet Tone brand was in danger of disappearing altogether but was recently revitalized and reintroduced with strict conformity to the original specifications. This includes the Jet Tone JT MF which is the original model favored by the greatest lead trumpeter who ever lived. The "V" cup offers more resistance and is good for strong high note players or high school jazz band players seeking to expand their upper register.

Reissue of the MF mouthpiece.

Comments about Jet-Tone MF Classic Re-Issue Trumpet Mouthpiece:

This mouthpiece is described as having a v-cup for added resistance. Maynard had a definite preference for open equipment, especially from 1970s onward.
The original JetTone had a 19 throat. When Leon Meriam messed with many of the JetTone mouthpiece specs, he change the MF to a smaller throat.
I had a 'vintage' JetTone MF, which was released with some other models in their original form. It had a 19 throat.

Comments about Jet-Tone MF Classic Re-Issue Trumpet Mouthpiece:

I play on the new Bill Chase(BC)jet tone mouthpiece regularly and love it. The MF mouthpiece has less volume, better sound, but more difficult for high notes and less endurance. I'm sticking with the BC but my compliments to Jet Tone for putting out this original MF mouthpiece.

Comments about Jet-Tone MF Classic Re-Issue Trumpet Mouthpiece:

This piece plays exactly like my original Jet-Tone MF Ratzenberger area piece which is listet in the original brochures as 19/32" diameter - it plays even a bit better.

Of course there is a discussion in trumpet forums about the exact specifications of these re-issues which are not given official so far.

Some compare it with MF2 (20/32" diameter) - but the problem is where the measuring starts from the top of the piece. May be the re-issuing company measures another high point than the original Ratzenberger - specially in this case of an convex rim melting funnel shape (high alpha angel - or better to say: no bite).

So I decide by playing: it plays a bit better as my original MF Ratzenberger - that is what counts.
