Up to now all Chicago Model Trumpets have been large (.470") bore. This suits many players and is ideal for this genre of trumpet. We felt that making an alternative version, with a bit more resistance and blowing characteristics similar to mainstream trumpets, would help bring the appeal of the Chicago concept to more musicians.Big Sound
It was important not to loose the big fat, well rounded sound, and accurate intonation that characteristics the Chicago Models. The New Chicago '46' has a bore size of .460", with a slightly tighter mouthpipe, allied to a slower taper. The construction of the '46', the weight, and the annealing process for the essential parts, are exactly the same as for its large bore counterpart.A New Perspective
The '46' is no less of a horn for its ML bore size. We believe it will open up a new perspective to players who feel that this is the bore size that best suits them, and their approach to playing the trumpet.
