Comments about Yamaha Trombone Slide Oil:

This is by far the best of the best with the most economical price. The former name, Yamaha Slide Oil was a bad name for a great product. The new description is much better and more accurate. Also the "new Model" has an applicator tip on the tube, less likely to spill or drip, another improvement. Virtually all my trombone associates use this great Yamaha slide lubrication product. If you never used it before, do a thorough cleaning of the inside of your outer slides before using this product. It can't make a bad slide better, but it can really make a good slide exceptionally fast. Use only a drop, no more on the stockings and spread with slide movement. I think the web site should update their picture since the old one is shown and is now "obsolete".

Comments about Yamaha Trombone Slide Oil:

I've used Trombotine, Conn Sure slick and the Yamaha product is the best. I teach middle school band and this product is a wonder for young players to keep their slides in top condition. The only draw back, and I mean the only, is that it takes more frequent applications than say trombontine and water. This is all I use now and all I recommend to my students. Just hope Yamaha keeps making it!

Comments about Yamaha Trombone Slide Oil:

People were raving about how great this stuff is, so I figured I'd try it. It works great on my Conn slide. I tried it on my Bach and it did not work that well on it. So I recommend you try it and see if it works on your horn or not. Yamaha changed the name to Trombone Slide Lubricant, probably because calling it slide oil was too confusing. It is not like the old fashioned slide oil at all. It is a milky liquid that you apply similar to Slide-O-Mix and then spray with water occasionally. For me, it is better than Slide-O-Mix on some horns. For my Bach, I went back to Trombotine.

Comments about Yamaha Trombone Slide Oil:

I've used Yamaha Slide Lubricant since Steve Turre recommended it to me. Switched from Rapid Lube and haven't looked back. I find that my slide is easier to clean, too, as this Yamaha product leaves less residue. This product gets my highest endorsement.

Comments about Yamaha Trombone Slide Oil:

Lubricants have evolved and this stuff is really great at getting the best out of a trombone slide. I do wish they would remove the scent, however. It's not unpleasant, just unnecessary !

Comments about Yamaha Trombone Slide Oil:

I avoided trying this stuff for years because they called it "Trombone OIL" and I remembered the old oil that some trombonists used. This is entirely new and transforms every trombone slide into a far better functioning slide. So far I've used it on 4 different instruments and the good slides got even better and slides that I thought were poor are now acceptable. Great stuff !

Comments about Yamaha Trombone Slide Oil:

I do agree with all the existing reviews but I disagree on how much to use. When I first tried it I only used a little bit and my slide (a vintage King 6B) really was not very slippery at all. I did some searching for ways to apply it and I found one guy that suggested putting about 3 or 4 inches of the lubricant on each stocking, separately, and working each slide in alone before putting the slide on normally.

                          Since then I've loved it!
