The Ultimate Euph?

By RandyG

from North Carolina

Comments about Yamaha YEP-842S Series Compensating Euphonium:

I have played them all and this is the ultimate horn. There are significant differences between the 842 and 642 (an excellent euph). Minor intonation problems in earlier Yamahas (flat middle C) have been fixed. A different lead pipe and bell give this horn a lively sound and quick response. There isn't a horn out there that "slots" as well as the 842.Only drawback is the monel valves. I wish Yamaha would go with stainless pistons.
