      OVERVIEW

Ned Steinberger, the famed product designer, worked with Planet Waves to design this innovative patent-pending capo. The result is a capo that's strong yet lightweight with one-handed operation that allows extremely precise intonation. The NS Capo is made of a sleek, ultralight aerospace aluminum that adds virtually no weight to the neck of your guitar. Plus it has a smooth micrometer screw to ensure the perfect pressure for buzz-free performance at every fret. Works with 6- and 12-string guitars with a simple, convenient single-handed operation that makes it perfect for any guitarist, whether you're a beginner or a professional.

I don't play professionally anymore, but enjoy recording on the GarageBand program on my iMac just for me. And, I don't always use a capo. However, when I do I don't like the hassel of getting the thing set just right and having to tune up again. The short time I've used the NS it has worked like a dream. Glad I bought it.
Simple one hand operation. It easily went from my acoustic to my strat to the jazz box. Didn't have to do a bit of tuning correction. I've tried several capos over the years (still have one that I bought back in 1963) and this one is by far the best.
Light weight. Well consturcted. Easy to attach with one hand. Leaving your other hand free for a sip of beer between songs.
I've paid more for capos that are collecting dust or have been given away.

I am highly satisfied with this purchase, and have already recommended it to friends. I recommend it to anyone looking for a quality capo that won't get in the way.

The only other thing I need to state is that when you are not using this capo, you have to take it off and put it somewhere. With a spring loaded capo, I would clip it on the head of the guitar, in case I needed to used it again. I suppose you could find a way to make this one work in a similar fashion, but it would take longer to put it on and take it off, then adjust more to get it to fit over the neck again.
The thumb screw used to tighten this capo, combined with the very fine threads, make for a pleasant experience when screwing it into place, and allow for very precise control of the tension on the strings. The bar covering the strings is just a bit longer than the fret board on my guitar, which means that it doesn't get in the way as much as all of the spring-loaded capos I have used in the past, especially when playing a B7, or any other chord which requires all fingers. The padding on the inside of the capo is soft enough not to damage the finish on any part of the guitar's neck, yet firm enough not to allow fret buzz.

I gave it a 9 only because I couldn't choose a different size that was just a cm or so shorter, to avoid getting in the way completely. Otherwise, this is the best capo I have ever owned.
I haven't owned this capo for very long, so I don't know what the durability or life expectency is, but the construction and selection of materials is high quality. I don't expect to have any problems with it any time in the near future.
A really great product for the low price.

It is slick, small and out of the way compared to a lot of capos.I have had one of these for a long time, bought one for my grandson and this one was for a student.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Aluminum Screw Type Capo:

Strings are less likely to go out of tune with this capo. I've used many different styles and this one , by far, is the best. The "spring" loaded capos exert way too much force / pressure on each fret causing the strings to bend too far resulting in intonation problems. This capo can be calibrated by the user with a simple twist of a knob. Genius design.

I saw a song in Guitar World that I subscribe to that required a capo. I read several reviews of capos and decided on this one. I've been using it on my acoustic electric and it gives the guitar a very different sound. It's been real fun experimenting with this capo.

Comments about D'Addario Planet Waves NS Aluminum Screw Type Capo:

I bought this capo to use as a songwriting tool, I found it to have an accesible price, a nice look and a solid feel. I must have used the capo almost every day for around 7 months, sometimes for hours, sometimes just to see if a song sounded better in a different key.

The capo broke after around a year, it did a very good job of staying "in tune" and never slipped off, etc. One day, while tightening the wheel to adjust the pressure while putting it on, I heard a snap and when I looked I saw that the rod which the adjustment screw rides on had snapped at the tip. I was very sad to see it go since I did enjoy the design.

I opted for another company's capo in this price range, this NS capo is a great concept, I think it would benefit from stronger materials.

I've owned and (reluctantly) used capos for more than 40 years, and every style you can imagine: elastic-band style, the big clamp-on kind and the horse-shoe shaped ones. They're a pain to put on and take off, and you have to fiddle constantly to get all the strings to ring clear and true, but there's that certain song (you all have one) that you just can't get the sound you want any other way. I've put up with them as a necessary evil, so when I discovered this little jewel I was very pleased! Lay it on the neck, turn the knob maybe half a turn, and start playing. It clamps without excessive force, it's small enough to not get in the way too much, and it's not all that fussy about placement, so it's very forgiving if you need a little extra room, a little farther from the fret.

I ordered one on a whim. I recommend that you order one on purpose!

I used many capos and still own at least 5 different types and I prefer this capo. It's lighter, completely adjustable for any neck, it is easy and quick to apply and take off, well made. I just love the company Planet Waves is a very innovative company and I think their designers are great.

In June, I wrote a review on this capo and I really liked it. The design is good and while it worked it did a nice job. However, both of the screw caps came off of both of my capos a day apart and I had to use pliers to remove the screws to get the capos off of my guitar. I emailed D'Addario to let them know about the problem and received a return email from someone name George saying he would send out a couple of caps with screws. They must have gotten lost in the mail. Bottom line is a good idea with a small but fatal manufacturing flaw. Maybe I just got a couple of bad ones but I cannot afford to be live and have to use pliers on my capo. Until I know they have fixed the problem, I'll just have to use the clip on or the Page bar and screw.
