OVERVIEW

The choice of millions of musicians worldwide.

The Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Capo is slightly curved and 2" across. This caop fits almost all acoustic steel-string and electric guitars.

The Original C-Series steel string capo features a patented locking action that provides an unrivaled combination of power, speed, accuracy and ease of use. One smooth flip of the lever locks it securely in place-and removes it just as quickly.

And the Shubb C-Series capo doesn't create tuning problems. Its soft, resilient rubber is specially designed to work just like a fingertip, so the capo doesn't bend the strings over the frets. Its closing action is just like your hand's, so the Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Guitar Capo doesn't pull strings off center. As a result, no retuning is necessary.

After reading mixed reviews on leading makes and models of trigger capos, the Schubb Original C Series model seemed to be the logical, more sensible alternative.

A question for all you acoustic guitar-playing worship leaders: Just how quickly do you need to apply a capo, really? Unless you just got to have a capo that you can apply to the headstock of your guitar, you really ought to give the Schubb serious consideration. Really. So maybe it would take me two seconds longer to pull a Schubb from my back pocket and apply it to the fingerboard of my guitar as it would for you to undo a trigger capo from the headstock of your guitar and apply it to the fingerboard. Maybe. Do you really move from one song to another in a different key that quickly?

Consider Schubb. Seriously.
I decided to go with this capo after reading reviews that the slightly more expensive Deluxe S series was not as good as Original C-Series, which sounded good to me as I had used a similar model Schubb on my acoustic guitar in the mid- to late-80s to great satisfaction. In fact, my wife still has the same model for her 12-string acoustic. The fact that the C-Series is available in Black Chrome was all I needed to know to go with a Schubb for my Carvin AE185.
The packaging for the black chromed capo is labeled "Capo Noir ...C1k" with an image of a black cat on the backside.
For you acoustic guitarists who aren't particularly inclined to consider a Schubb over a trigger capo, consider the following: a) a Schubb is fully adjustable, allowing for minimal pressure to be applied to any fret with virtually no retuning; b) a Schubb isn't going to blow apart on stage as a trigger capo might; c) a Schubb may be placed away from the upper fretwire of the fret to which the capo is applied and thus, substantially out of the way of your fingers and without causing any string buzz; d) unlike a trigger capo that applies the same amount of pressure regardless of which fret it's situated on (i.e., regardless of neck width), a Schubb may be finely adjusted to apply only the amount of pressure actually needed; e) a Schubb is substantially smaller than a trigger capo and while it can't be quickly affixed to and left on the headstock, it doesn't hang out from or beneath the neck, plus there are things called pockets into which a Schubb may be kept as well as music stands upon which a Schubb may rest until needed.
In writing this review soon after receiving the capo, I can't speak for its longevity, though indications are that it's built just as well, if not better than, the Schubb I used in the 80s and thus, I presume it will last a good long time.
Considering the quality, its utility, and its features, it's seems priced about right.

Wish it was better quality.

I had this capo about 8 months and the small rubber pad on the inner arm broke loose. I used it broken, still worked but not well. Disapointed with design.

Love these little devils, always have. I've always liked the feel and functionality of them, and I don't care for the spring loaded ones. It's a personal preference thing.

Comments about Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Guitar Capo:

This may be the capo that ends the quest for the "perfect capo" - It tends to keep the guitar in tune and dramatically reduces the need to "retune" between every song w/a capo change. Only down side is two hands are required to put it on - pretty minor and it lives better in a pocket than on the headstock. I love it.

Comments about Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Guitar Capo:

Wanted a capo for my Strat and Tele, but didn't know which one to get. Bought this one at a great price, and it was exactly what I wanted. Small enough where it doesn't interfere with fingerings, and looks great too. I will never buy a capo other than Shubb.
Oh, and works great with my Martin acoustic also!

This classic capo is still my favorite among all I have used. Gives excellent tone clarity when properly adjusted. Does require initial adjustment to the guitar being used with it. This is not difficult to do and will reward you with the best capoed sound around.

Comments about Shubb Original C-Series Steel String Guitar Capo:

I bought two new Martin guitars, a DCPA5 and a Custom X series. The necks on these have different profiles than the D28 and HD28. Think they call them low profile necks... the Shubb fits the D28 and HD28 necks perfectly, but on the new profile necks the pad on the lever arm that contacts the back of the neck doesn't center on the neck, leaving a small gap at the end of the pad next to the body of the capo. Don't know if this off-center tends to clamp the strings away from the body of the capo tighter or not, but the "give" of the rubber sleeve on the capo seems to compensate enough for it to still work. Haven't tried other brands of capos.
