Ok, fist off, I am not adept enough on the guitar to play with a slide, so I can't tell you how it functions as a slide... What I can tell you is I use the Shy Slide on my right thumb for an awesome slap bass experience. The added weight gets a more consistant attack and rebound, creating an effortless momentum. This is an inexpensive alternative to the Slapping.

I was excited when I learned about this slide. The design is great, and it's pretty inexpensive, so I threw one in the cart. It is, without a doubt, the most disappointing slide I have ever used. It does not sustain notes. It may have something to do with the 13's I use on my SG, since the B and e strings sound better than the rest. You might have better luck, but I'll stick with my bottleneck.

    Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

It takes some getting used to, but this is a great idea. I don't think it would work for everyone, but no slide will. I don't play much in the slide style, and for me this has been much easier to incorporate into my playing than glass and steel slides I've owned in the past.

My only detraction is that you're putting it together yourself with very basic velcro strips. If you're handy you might be able to rig a shy slide on your own. It took me a bit of time and experimenting to get it to fit comfortably, and I wouldn't be happy wearing this for a long session.

      Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

I am always looking at gear to make my life/playing somewhat easier... after breaking so many glass & ceramic slides (a dark stage = mishaps) I decided to pick up the "Shy Slide". By far I am no Slide Guitar Master but I did find myself stumbling around the strings a bit due to the short scale of the product. This is not a put down of the "Shy Slide"... it just takes some getting used to if you used a full body glass slide.

          Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

This is a nice thing to have in addition to a regular scale slide. It allows you to incorporate phrases of slide technique into you normal playing. I think it is a good value for the price. One word of advice. When inserting the velcro into the slots while putting this together, leave the plastic backing on the velcro and remove it after you have inserted through the slots. If you have really beefy fingers, this may not be for you.

          Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

I liked the idea, but found the thing was getting in my way. A little bulky between my fingers. I might use it in some specific case, but not too often. I did like the effect, though. If there was a way to trim it down, that would be good.

          Shy Slide

          Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

          It's worth a try
The slide works ok but it is too bulky to play full chords while it's on your finger I always use a slide on my little finger and they suggest using another finger but at my age and years of playing it's not going to happen. I think it's still kinda cool to have one like this even if it's just for a spare I'll keep trying
          Good Luck
It's well made for the price

          It is A toy

          Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

Just bought it, sending it back! This is A toy, & not A good toy! Metal to thin, to light, to tight on the ring finger, the velcro rubs the finger wrong, doesn't fit right on the finger, maybe the little finger for bottle necking the first two strings. I play slide not bottle neck.

          Nice idea...

          By

          from USA

          Comments about Dunlop Shy Slide:

This was a nice idea, it really was. You can play chords and lead straight, then add some slide work in to spice things up.Problem is the actual design sucks. It has no weight and, therefore, no tone or sustain. I also found it rather uncomfortable to wear. I couldn't wear it on any finger except my pinky without being pinched by the "hook" side of the velcro. At least it's a good quality failure.I hope others have better luck with it. For me, I'd never buy another and wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
