First impressions: Pretty solid build, four simple yet expressive knobs, decent price. This little blue stompbox is fantastic. I mainly use it for subtle tone boost, where you can't really tell that it is chorus that I am using. I set the depth at around 2 o'clock, rate at around 10 o'clock, tailor EQ and level as needed, and then I turn it on for the duration of my playing. It works well with both single coils and humbuckers, though it suits my DeArmond M77 with USA Dynasonics especially well. This box makes my clean tones shine and fattens up my overdrive just where I want it. Of course, subtlety is not all this pedal is capable of. You can get some very deep, lush tones all the way into quirky and dizzying madness. Not sure if this is true stereo operation or not, but that isn't a feature I was concerned with.I am on my second one currently, though that is not due to any issues on Boss's end- I accidentally hooked my previous Super Chorus up to a 10v power supply and it fried something inside. Whoops! Needless to say, I purchased another one, and if presented with the option again, I would stick with this pedal.

Performing as a solo act, I was looking to generate a more full sound by splitting the the unit from my Fender AMP to my Fender PA. Although this unit worked excellent for a few gigs, it has some problems with it's circuitry whereas after a short period of time it will only operate out of one output A (OR) output B, because when you plug in both, there is a horrible nasty bad ground issue which makes it 100% non-usable in stereo mode. The first one I purchase did this from the start. The second one I purchased (after returning the first one) worked simply fantastic for a few gigs, now the same exact problem is happening. NO it's not a cord, issue or AMP or PA or BOSS 9V power supply issue, this unit simply has a bad internal grounding issue going on that seems to fry overtime. I've used various boss pedals over the years and this Super Chorus CH-1 is the only one that has some serious issues going on. Only good news is....that this unit fried at during practice and not at one of my live gigs. Come on BOSS, fix this issue and give us back the quality we can rely on!

Comments about Boss CH-1 SUPER Chorus Pedal:

I have been using the Boss CH-1 Super Chorus for years now. I started playing guitar in 1979 and since that time I have used just about every brand of Chorus Pedal out there. Here's the thing. Chorus is a specific guitar effect. Chorus either sounds like Chorus or some variation. The Boss CH-1 Super Chorus is one of the top 3 Chorus Pedals on the market. I like the Boss pedals because they sound great, they never break, and they can be purchased just about anywhere which is paramount if you are in a touring band and need a replacement in a hurry. Pedal stolen? No problem. Just send a crew member to the local guitar shop and chances are they will return with a brand new unit.

Comments about Boss CH-1 SUPER Chorus Pedal:

I bought this to replace a danelecto chorus pedal which had been purchased to replace an MXR stereo chorus pedal on my gig pedal board. The MXR was too diddly and if it wasn't hooked up stereo the chorus effect was almost undetectable. The danelecto was a good unit, but like the MCR it was huge and also required 18v, which meant a separate transformer instead of taking 9v right off my 13 year-old SKB pedal board.
The Boss pedal is 9v and the jack is on the far side if the metal case, which is better than the MXR arrangement where the power jack is right next to the output jack for some reason. Boss battery access is superior. It has a self-retained screw with a thumb wheel and also access from the top so you don't have to pull the Velcro off if for some reason you need battery power. It sounds great 2nd-to-last in my chain and the controls allow me to adjust from subtle to rediculous.

Comments about Boss CH-1 SUPER Chorus Pedal:

I've had this pedal for about a week and after learning all the best ways to adjust each knob, I'm starting to love this pedal. I first used it with my electric guitar with a Boss DS-1 distortion pedal in front of it. I've also used it alone with my electric and acoustic guitars. I haven't been able to use it with a tubed amp yet, only used it through my solid state and my Tascam digital mini studio, the sound is full and warm. I found the two most versatile adjustments are the depth and EQ. You can create harmonic/thin eerie sounds all the way down to a deep, full, warm, and rich tone. Make sure to plug into the right output if your not splitting your signal, because you won't hear much of an effect. Make sure to play with the effects level knob, it's amazing how well it can introduce just a little effect all the way to full blown effect without affecting the tone.
