You may not like all the models available on the AM4 but I'm sure you'll find a couple that will provide the tone you've been missing. I use my Pro Reverb for Fender clean, but the AM4 can give me a Marshall crunch and a Soldano SLO 100 lead.
I've had about 25 amps and over 100 pedals and I hate this thing. All distortions sound like the treble is on fire (in a bad way) and the bass is all flabby, not deep or tight.
Imagine having the best classic and modern tube amps available, with four of your favorites programmed and ready to wow your audience and bandmates alike. These devices are incredible tools to those who know how to read the manual, follow the instructions, and then tweak the results into an orgy of tones.
Was looking for a way to get a guitar amp without dumping a bunch of money into one. Picked this little piece of wizardry up and got 16 for less than the price of ONE. Really good effects. I LOVE the tube pre-amp setting (developed by Line 6) and the Blackface is right on. For those worried about the reports of there being too much high-end...yeah, there's some...but that's why you have a "BASS" knob on your amp. Also, there's controls ON the box that allow you to alter the bass, mid, & treble...so no worries. Would like the bypass to be a bit louder, but that's easily fixed by turning down the effects and turning UP the amp. Worth the money, definietly!
The noise gate feature does eliminate the front-end noise on the more heavily distorted models but it robs from the tone and sustain to get it. Otherwise it has a great variety of vintage and modern amps and is highly tweakable and programmable and easy to use. Solid construction.
