OVERVIEW

If you listen to classic rock, then you've heard the wonderful and awe-inspiring sound of he Uni-Vibe® Chorus/Vibrato. It's one of the most iconic effects in music history and that's not an exaggeration. Since the late ’60s, players pushing the limits of the guitar have used it to blow minds and reconfigure the tonal and textural palette of music.

The geniuses over at MXR have just remastered the classic effect for today's guitarist but in a smaller footprint while maintaining all of the gorgeously chewy, Leslie-sounding goodness.

With its simple three-knob interface, you can dial up the sound to your liking without problems. First, use the VIBE switch to select either Chorus Mode—dry signal mixed with pitch-shifted signal—or Vibrato Mode—only pitch-shifted signal. Then, use the LEVEL control to set the effect volume, the SPEED control to set the sweep rate, and the DEPTH control to set overall intensity.

The Uni-Vibe comes in a Phase 90-sized housing—a fraction of the size and weight of the original Uni-Vibe pedal—and features true bypass switching. Perfect for hitting the road with lush, swirly madness.

Take a trip into endless sonic possibility.

Great pedal for classic rock and for adding an unique and distinctive sound to your music. Works best after your compressor-OD-distortion pedals in the effects chain, and works nicely with the MXR Carbon Copy.

Not sure about the other negative review. Maybe his gear. I'm playing a Strat and a Les Paul thru a Marshall JVM410 and have no problems.

The pedal appears to be made well and with the same high MXR standards. Time will tell though. All I can say is that I'm still using my 1975 Phase 90 and Cry Baby. I believe I will get that kind of use out of this pedal. I can't say that about the other manufacturers.

The original UNIVBE kept the natural tone of the signal as it swept in and out of phase. Most phase shifters sounded better when pushing a overdriven signal. That's why you hear the MXR Phase 90 on so many classic lead tracks. This new UNIVIBE does not come close to replicating the original. On a clean setting, the sweep sounds very synthetic. A driven signal lacks any character. A good chorus or phase shifter will have a much better effect on your sound.

Comments about MXR Uni-Vibe M68 Chorus/Vibrato Guitar Effects Pedal:

For the price and tone you can't beat this Uni-Vibe. No, it's not made with photocells but, I don't really care if it's a "true" Uni-Vibe clone....It just sounds great. Totally nails the "phase" sound I've had in my head for years. If your looking for a nice UV sound that doesn't take up a ton of pedalboard real estate then you should check this out. I bought a return UV for a discount and I couldn't be happier : )

If you are looking at this pedal, chances are, you know what it does. I love it! I play Gibsons into an Orange and I still get all that swirling, underwater, trippy greatness. Open the box, turn the knobs and jam with Jimi and Trower.

This pedal sounds great. Gets that nice syrupy Hendrix modulation. Love it. I own quite a few MXR pedals and my only grip is the pedal seems to be made of aluminum.... Not the nice and heavy boxes of my others.

I dunno - maybe it's me - or my rig - I just could not get a decent sound from any of the functions of this pedal. the intensity had to be maxed out to even hear the effects. in spite of this I think mxr makes some great stuff.
