This is my first Recorder, and after I removed it from the packaging, then the carrying pouch that it comes in, was the quality of the finish.
I could honestly have been fooled if I was told it was wood. I have heard recordings of professional musicians playing on this particular model and I was astounded by the sound quality, response, tone, dynamic range, as well as the intonation.
I am a beginner on the instrument, and I was unsure of what to choose (as there are literally hundreds of options to choose from), but I am very satisfied with my purchase.
It is very good quality, the construction is also very good, I haven't noticed any leaks and the ABS, I am told, is virtually indestructible (It's the same kind of plastic used to make Lego pieces, so that says it all). If you are a beginner/novice looking for professional quality in an instrument, I strongly recommend that you look into the company Aulos.

This is a great sounding alto recorder for both beginners and experienced players alike.
It has a delightful attack and plenty of dynamics.
It is also easy to care because it is made of ABS resin.
It is made after a model by the 17th recorder maker Richard Haka.

I was looking for a plastic treble recorder with wooden sound so that I can concentrate and enjoy thorougly the music I am playing and not worry about the care of a wooden recorder. The Aulos Alto Haka 709B Recorder has fulfilled all my needs: wooden sound, great tuning, it has a delightful attack, is really beautiful and easy to handle and play. A pleasure to play indeed. Besides, it took only four days to reach me and I live in Brazil ! And shipping cost was really fair and not too expensive. A must have recorder from beginner to advanced level players.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
