Comments about LMI 27-Note Bell Set with Case G-A:

I am using these instruments in a 6th grade Orff Ensemble. They are much cheaper and durable considering how much Orff costs. The sound is not as good as Sonar and other brands...but one has to consider price these days on "shoe string" school budgets. This is an outstanding deal considering one does not have to buy mallets to go with it...instead..you get two pair with each bell set!!!!

Durable with Nice Sound

By Lisa-_2giT

Comments about LMI 27-Note Bell Set with Case G-A:

I love these bell sets. They are economically priced and my middle schoolers can't break them. The protective case not only keeps the bells safe, but makes them easy to store. Other bells I used required me to always put them away to prevent students from damaging them. These can be stored vertically or horizontally and stacked. The sound is very nice and I like that each set comes with a hard and soft mallet set.

Comments about LMI 27-Note Bell Set with Case G-A:

We bought this glockenspiel for our budding musician for his 2nd birthday, thought it would be a good educational tool for him to learn music and ryhthm at the same time. Boy this thing sounds great! The bells ring clearly, are in tune with themselves and with the CD we played along. Now I too have something new to play with...I may even use it to make some recordings!

Best Uses

Comments about LMI 27-Note Bell Set with Case G-A:

Good:
-Excellent glockenspiel for the money spent.
-Notes are in tune all the way across.
-I can't stop playing it.

Bad:
-The one I got is different from the picture. Case is bright yellow and more trapezoidal than rectangular.

-If you buy it, also buy a decent pair of mallets cuz it only comes with one crummy plastic pair.

Pros

  • In tune
  • Polishing Cloth
  • Stackable
  • Two Sets Of Mallets
  • Wstickers Do Re Mi

Cons

  • Orange One Not Available
  • They Don't Carry These

Best Uses

  • Children's Music Class
  • Interesting Background

Comments about LMI 27-Note Bell Set with Case G-A:

I bought 8 of these years ago for my children's music classes and they are great. They are a bit difficult for the children to open themselves. The two sets of mallets offer different sounds to explore. The rectangle shape is easy to stack and store. Unfortunately, they seem to be discontinued in favor of the much less appealing blue trapezoid one pictured.

Pros

  • Nice sound

Cons

    Best Uses

Comments about LMI 27-Note Bell Set with Case G-A:

Probably the cheapest chromatic percussion you can get that's good enough to do songs with. Plays in tune with even tone across registers. Included mallets are decent enough but produce a lot of contact sound - some brass-headed mallets or soft rubber mallets are ideal, depending on desired tone. Pretty good sustain on all notes except the high G (not a big deal). Finally, the keys don't always seat themselves perfectly straight and the pins that hold them in place can interfere with the playing, but there are a number of easy ways to fix these. Overall, great for the money, lots of fun, and suitable for recording with.

Comments about LMI 27-Note Bell Set with Case G-A:

Item delivered no problem. some of the small pieces had to be reattached. I am not sure if this would affect the quality of sound, but it seems to sound very good to me who knows nothing about music. bought for an eight year old to introduce to basic notes. all in all I am very pleased.

Comments about LMI 27-Note Bell Set with Case G-A:

I got this xylophone expecting it to be a cheap toy but it's actually a reasonably well made instrument. The notes are all within 1 1/2 cents (+ or_) of what they're supposed to be according to my Seiko tuner, and the whole unit seems to be pretty solidly built. I'm sure a child can tear it apart in not time but if you don't tear it apart I don't see any reason for this instrument to not last for a long time. The included hard plastic mallets are a very loud and a little shrill on the high notes so I got the low priced rubber mallets from MF, they're a little too quiet on the high notes (the search for mallets goes on....). This is truly a fun instrument and I'm glad I bought it.

Comments about LMI 27-Note Bell Set with Case G-A:

Having various little instrument in my studio area and I did not have a xylophone. This sounds exactly how you would expect it to sound, it is of higher quality than a kids toy but the sound is exactly what you're thinking it should sound like. Kind of juvenile in some way. I do think that different pallets or hammers whatever they're called might sound really good on this but the plastic sounds how you would expect plastic hitting metal to sound. But that is exactly what I wanted, I recorded with it and just have this nice childish sounding xylophone in the back. The tones are clear and sound pretty okay.

I bought this to call our Sunday school class to order with a short tune. It has been a big hit. It is fun to play and sounds good. I wish the color of the case were something more subtle - not bright yellow.

For the money you can't go wrong. Full scale (sharps and flats), close enough in tune for non-professional use. All in a protective storage and carry case with two sets of mallets and a wipe cloth. Elementary music teachers would do well with this!
