Comments about LP Rhythmix Frame Drum with Mallet:

I added this to my kit, thinking it would make a great addition to it--could I be more wrong. This does not go well with metal music AT ALL. I got kicked out of my band for using it. Everytime I hear it, I think about suicide.

        Others are better!

Comments about LP Rhythmix Frame Drum with Mallet:

I have taught concert and marching percussion for over 10 years, and I also started teaching preschool music classes on a weekly basis about 2 years ago. I ordered and received the LP drum at the same time as the Rhythm Band tomboy and a Remo Kids 8" frame drum. I had no previous experience with any of these products, so I wanted to compare. All of the drums went into my "assorted instrument" box for play-along time. The LP drum was a disappointment from the beginning, with its poor "plastic" tone and the ugly and potentially hazardous "drumstick." I see the stick has now been upgraded to a mallet--that's an improvement in sound quality, perhaps, but it looks like the fabric could quickly be yanked off by any industrious toddler. My drum has held together, but the shiny plastic head was quickly pitted when played with the accompanying stick. I took the plastic "stick" out of the box after the first two classes, both to reduce hazard to my kids and to avoid the nasty sharp tone it produced. I have had far better satisfaction with both the tomboy and the Remo Kids drum. Both had better tone right from the beginning, and they've both held their tone and appearance very well, in spite of often being struck by maracas, tick-tock blocks, wooden mallets, etc. For preschool children, the Remo rainbow mallets are superior to most others.
