Comments about Rhythm Band Rap Stick:

It's a cool device if you're willing to work with it. There are four tongues, one on each side, that provide differently pitched log drum-like sounds when struck near the nodes. When the ends are slapped against something you get correspondingly pitched crack sounds, so it is sort of like having four slapsticks and a four-tongue slit drum in one.

The guiro ridges and tone block are a much greater challenge to play and use; they demonstrate the principles they work on, but are far more challenging to produce clean consistent sounds on. Fun to play with, but less useable than the rest.

I'd recommend this thing to experimentalists and curious people most. You can use fluted sticks on the tongues to get some really LOUD, interesting creaking/rasping sounds, simulate an orchestral ratchet, and more. Just don't expect to sound like the guy in the product demo video without some effort - these are a single piece of wood, so some will respond more easily than others.
