The Q-Chord has been a tremendous blessing to me and others for 30 years.
I play at nursing homes, and because it is portable, I can walk up and down the halls bringing Christian songs to everyone in the home.
I play with a band. The Q-chord blends all the music and voices together.
I play for religious services, prayer meetings and mass at different churches by myself and with others; the capo feature comes in handy.
I've played at conferences. The Q-chord can be plugged into an amplifier
It is light weight, portable, and always keeps me in perfect tune when I sing.

I have been playing my Q-Chord for over three years for our Friday night dance here in our RV/Mobile Home Park. I run it through my Peavy Escort 2000 PA System with incredible sound. Would like to see a programable button to remember a song rhythm, beat and tempo. I have figured out how to switch the beat and tempo fairly quick by making a list of keys, tempo's and beats along with song title's. I found it real easy to play because I know chords from being a bassman and rhythm guitar player. I never use the pre-recorded cartridges because I play the chords myself and have unlimited chord progression possibilities.

QChord is a Great Songwriting Tool

By Rodney Robbins-v1wA0

from The Carolinas

Comments about Suzuki QChord:

I recently used my Suzuki QChord to write a spicy, Broadway style musical called "Big Feet, Big Love." The show has lush duets, blues, comedy tunes, big production numbers, big band pieces and more. The QChord has enough sounds and rhythms to inspire any singer/songwriter. It is so easy to play that I can change my mind, change chords, switch tempo and get something going all while fighting with lyrics I just finished minutes before. The QChord isn't as expressive as a guitar or piano, but it is a lot of fun, easy to play and perfect for writing music that people will love to sing.

    Comments about Suzuki QChord:

I have had my q-chord for almost 20years. It has been dropped, stepped on, kicked and beaten up during my use of it in my music therapy practice. This thing is still working. I have never had issues with it, and children love it. I have also used it in the adult population, and they have responded to it well also. It is easy to chord and hold while playing. It allows anyone to participate no matter their physical abilities. I have my clients strum the touch sensitive pad while I press the chord buttons. Previously, I had the omnichord (and still do). My omnichord is 32 years old and still in excellent shape as well. Go Suzuki! Great product.

      Comments about Suzuki QChord:

This is a bit much to be called a toy. A few features are great. For instance, it is not possible to play an incorrect note, it's only possible to lack a sense of timing by the user. The finger bridge is designed to play only those notes that go with the chords selected for the song. It didn't take long to figure out how to play it even without reading the instructions (although that certainly helps). The add-on cartridges appear to be in short supply, so order all you can right away.

Happy to receive my Qchord, liked the sound, liked the setup of chords, played it for twenty minutes...it shut down, and never could turn it on again...very disappointed.
Returned to the shipper and got credit for purchase...I have purchased many items from Musicians Friend, and satisfied with them...this purchase just happened to be a dud.

        Comments about Suzuki QChord:

The Qchord is a fun MIDI player that tries and fails to be guitar-like. In doing so, it strays from the conventional keyboard form, becoming something completely different. It's basically an electronic autoharp, and as such is not bad. But most electronic keyboards at much less cost can do the same kind of autochording, plus MIDI song and rhythm accompaniment - and they are also useful keyboards. So I think the Qchord is an unneeded device, and is too pricey. Also, the MIDI sounds are fairly cheesy, though I haven't tried amplifying them outside of the built-in speaker yet. Good for kids, but I'd stick with a conventional keyboard. For kids wanting to learn guitar, get them one, or a ukulele for ease of learning.

Musicians, don't turn your nose up to this tool.

        By Eddie

        About Me Professional Musician

        Comments about Suzuki QChord:

Way back in the late 80s I worked at a local music store that sold professional instruments. We got in some of the original Omni-Chord (now called Q-Chord for no apparent reason). As a musician myself I saw it as a toy. Late one night sitting at my desk waiting for time to close I started messing around with one. I fumbled around with ran some chords and hit on a progression I liked. It s sounds were cheesy, but you could clearly hear the various chord qualities (Major, Minor, 7th, aug, sus, etc.). I wrote down the chords and then played them at home on piano and guitar. I ended up writing a song around that progression. I was somehow ashamed of how I did it. It felt like a cheat. It even made me feel like I shouldn't buy one because it would ruin me as a musician.
That was stupid thinking of course. It isn't the only way to write a song, but its a great way to play with chords you may not have normally thought about. This is a major advantage to how you might plan out a song on a DAW. All the chords are there right in front of you regardless of key. You can play and experiment. You can do that with real instruments, but you fall into habits

I haven't yet played the latest version, but I am a little disappointed in its features. The old Omni-Chord let you record chord sequences. This one does not. The cartrages are pointless. If you wanted prerecorded material, you could use any kareokee format. The new one looks solid, but I want them to play to its strengths as a songwriting tool. Give me back the performance recording or a sequencer. Let me easily export it to a midi file to bring into a DAW to use as the core of a new song.

Bring back the Omni-Chord name. It makes more sense and is catchier. Give us some cheezy sounds (which are often fun) along with some really good ones for at least piano and guitar.
Bring the price way down. The technology isn't worth the price. At one fifty I would buy them as presents.
Give us iPhone and Android apps to extend function.

I've had mine for a few years. I've been frustrated at times because of my lack of skill, but I still love it. I really liked the sounds on using the melody keyboard just wish it had more notes. O I just bought a used mad catz RB3 mustang fender I think it will make a great extension of the keyboard. A year or two back I tried running the suzyQ into my korg micro chord before I sent that to my grand kids. I thought that was cool too!

The overall quality is not bad but the insert next to the strumpad was loose. I had to repair the pad before I played the unit. The instrument did not come with a power chord! I also inquired about a soft cover for the unit and there is none available. The price is too high for the unit.
