I laughed when this came and it was really in a little box with Snoopy on it! The picture shows Snoopy playing it, and I keep telling my daughter, "Come on, even a DOG can play it!" It doesn't come with instructions, (Hello, Youtube!), and can be pretty tricky to get a cool sound from, but for the price, it's a great one to start with. I would love it if Musician's Friend would also carry a higher quality/better sounding model as well, for those willing to make a bigger investment in their future mouth harping career.

Fun little instrument. With just a small amount of practice I was able to play a variety of sounds. Keeping the exact amount of pressure between the teeth can be challenging. Too little pressure, and the metal chatters. Too much pressure, and the tongue will twang on the frame. I've found that modifying the way that I cup the frame in my hand helps to maintain appropriate pressure. Good instrument at a price that won't bleed ya dry.

I bought this item to use in a western themed video game soundtrack. It was easy to learn and record within a week of recieving it. I've used it for music and sound effects and it was great for both. It also is just plain fun to play. I ended up ordering extras for my friends since they keep asking to play my jaw harp.

                        Will Work, but...

Comments about Trophy Snoopy Jaws Harp:

First off, they are NOT called "JAW" harps. It is NOT wrong to call it by it's traditional folk name. Sometimes P.C. drives me mad. It has nothing to do with you-know-what. I am a player for 40 years and I am of the you-know-what faith. (gotta get past the robo-scans) It is getting darn hard to find one that plays well or plays at all! Many will not even make the basic sound. This one WILL play the basic sound, but it's not loud nor very good. It's hard to find good J-harps. Many people give up because of harps like this. You gotta use your teeth and the hollow cavity of your mouth. This one will bearly do the basic job.
