I have nothing to compare this with but am satisfied with the sound. It is an easy instrument to learn for someone with very little music background, and it is wonderful to be able to play music for myself. I love it and would be interested in expanding my experience with recorders.

I was sceptical at first about buying a plastic recorder instead of saving up for a wooden one, but this thing sounds so close to wood it fools everyone. The imitaiton finish is very realistic also. A great buy!

I own this recorder, and it is made of a woodgrain plastic that has some reddish grain to it (the 314B is woodgrain with dark brown grain to it). It is easy to hold, the holes are covered easily by my fingers, and it plays the notes as written. It does not sound an octave higher than written as the soprano recorders do. It comes with a cleaning rod, joint lubricant, and a fingering chart. The sound is beautiful!

I've been delighted. My teacher couldn't have been happier that I showed up with this recorder for the first class.Nice tone all around. Not completely comparable to a wooden instrument above the staff, but then you've paid only 10% of what a fine wooden recorder costs. The perfect alto to start with.

This is thie finest plastic recorder I have played. It has an even temper up and down 2 octaves with the remarkable resonance from low A to high C. This Yamaha alto gets closest to a woody sound compared with other plastics. It is a pleasure to play.
