Comments about Evans Genera Orchestral 300 Snare Side Head:

We are in search for the perfect snare heads for our Yamaha Stage Custom kit at our church. We have a wide variety of music. This Orchestral 300 snare head is way more dynamic than the Hazy 300 we used to use. We are using the Genera HD batter head along with it. We have two very different drummers play there was well, so the orchestral head caters to more variety of hitters. Soft hits come through the PA system with just as much articulation as the hard hits. It also has much more snap, depth and dynamics than the Hazy 300. I am the audio engineer by the way with 4 years experience with this venue. Last week we broke an orchestral 300 and had to put a Hazy 300 on there. The drummer as well as I was instantly disappointed. Choose this head. It's awesome!

            Awesome for rock too!!!

Comments about Evans Genera Orchestral 300 Snare Side Head:

Not just for orchestra!!! These are basically the same weight as the hazy 300 but they have this sort of etched finish on them kinda like the J1 so you can't see through them. Its not a coating like on their coated heads so it won't dull the tone too much. it does soften it ever so slightly but not too noticeable. What is noticeable, is the increase in snare response!! My local drum shop guy turned me on to these a few years ago so I tried them and haven't looked back since. They enhance the sensitivity and articulation like crazy! I play mostly hard rock and progressive type metal but I play my snares open and resonant and I play a lot of ghost notes and these made a big difference in what I heard. They are more "papery" and less tom-like than the hazy 300's.... which I've never understood why they call "hazy" because they're not hazy at all... totally clear. My drum shop guy said that he though he remembered these orchestral's originally being the hazy 300 and then they changed them to what they are now but I don't know the history... all I know is that these things are great. I just wish they made these in 13" for the couple of 13" snares that I have. I am forced to use remo ambassador snare sides on those....they are actually hazy clear and I think they sound better as a snare side than the evans hazy 300.... even though i am a complete evens player.
            never had one break
they could be cheaper of course but couldn't everything?
