    The sound of a heavy mallet and the feel of a light one.

    An active recitalist, clinician, and master class teacher, Gifford Howarth is currently an Adjunct Professor/Artist in Residence at Pennsylvania State University and a member of the percussion faculty at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.

    His new line of marimba mallets was designed to create the highest quality of sound for the recital hall or within an ensemble. "Each model allows the specific characteristics of each range to shine through -- a deep full bass, a full sounding midrange and a cutting high end," explains Giff. "The materials we selected allow a multi-use for each model, and their unique weight distribution produces the sound of a heavy mallet without the feel of one."

    The Gifford Howarth Signature line features long-lasting yarn for durability and clear, unfinished birch shafts for a natural feel.

    Comments about Vic Firth Gifford Howarth Signature Series Keyboard Mallets:

    These mallets are for low, bassy sounds on the bottom of the marimba. Do not buy if you are planning to use them as a regular pair of mallets. They are very long, and heavy. They're also not very good for 4-mallet use.
