Wuhan Chau Gong with Stand
The world renowned Chau gong adds depth and special effects to a wide range of musical venues. Its one-piece cast, hand-hammered construction is crafted using centuries-old traditions.
The Chinese people have used gongs as a ritual instrument for thousands of years. The deep tones clear the air before special events. The unique sound of each style of gong is used to signify a different kind of event. The Chau Gong is used to announce the arrival of a government official, warning people to clear the street, much as a police siren is used today to lead a procession.
You will appreciate the deep, reverberating sounds and creative opportunities these cymbals offer. Try combining your talent with a Wuhan gong and you will be amazed at what you'll create! Includes gong, mallet and black powder coated stationary stand.

Comments about Wuhan WU007-34 CHAU GONG 34 IN WITH STAND:
I listened to as many YouTube samples of gongs before making my decision, and this gong most closely matched what I was looking for. It has a deep note 4 inches from center, many mid-register harmonics development when hit 8-15 inches from center. If you can't afford a Paiste, then this is going to get you about 80% of the way there in terms of sonic characteristics for a vastly lower price. This is a substantial gong and weighs about 35 lbs. The appearance of the gong isn't anywhere near as beautiful as the Paiste gongs. The rear edge is not cut very even, and it looks very crudely finished compared to Paiste, especially the unlathed edge and center. But it is 1/5th the cost of the Paiste. So if sound quality is far more important to you than appearance, then Wuhan is a great choice.
The Wuhan gong stand was welded incorrectly, and M.F. quickly shipped a second stand to me. This second stand had the same problem too. The welds for the cross bars were not 90 degrees, so the crossbars on the stand wouldn't square up when the tubes were assembled.
