Comments about Audio-Technica AT2050 Multi-Pattern Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I used two of these mics to pickup six background singers during a recent charity concert. The ability to get good gain with the switchable patterns without picking up guitar or keyboard amps is a plus. Featured solo parts were also part of the performance.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2050 Multi-Pattern Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I was fortunate to win won of these in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. For the money this is an excellent mic. Definitely worth considering for a home studio where you have a limited budget but need something solid and versatile. While compared to my Blue Kiwi and SE 5500 it underplays a touch, it really is a great mic for its value (those other mics are about 2000 and 600 respectively). This AT 2050 may not sound as 'big' as top end condensers but it really isn't that far behind. Clear, quality sound. A little bit of a high sheen and not the most impressive low end definition but I am being hyper analytical. This mic would work well for vocals, overhead, and other applications. It doesn't have a ton of unique character but creates a realistic impression of the sound. For around 200 this is an excellent buy and a mic you can get a lot of mileage out of in a home studio. For a pro studio it may not be totally necessary if you have great mics like U87 or other large diaphragm condensers but still a solid mic that has a lot of potential use.

      Better than I had hoped!

      By Jack Stott

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2050 Multi-Pattern Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

We have a group of 12 in our high school who do a fantastic job performing the national anthem for events. They had performed It in our gym without sound support, but really needed some amplification. I also wanted to have them perform the national anthem before football games, but only had one mic jack in front of the stands. I was concerned whether the one mic would pic up the group. It far exceeded my expectations! We have used it in several venues since.
Switchable pattern works as advertised, decibel switch does the trick, shock mount holds mic tight.
Very solid. I've only had it for a few months so I can't comment on durability.
High marks For sound quality v price

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2050 Multi-Pattern Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

This microphone meets the expected versatily of a multi-pattern microphone with a sound quality that can be compared to its higher cost counterpart. Polar pattern, low-cut, and pad setting on this microphone can be changed easily without using a tool, and it fits nicely on its shockmount.

          Outstanding Mics

          By Neil Talley

          from Kannapolis, NC

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2050 Multi-Pattern Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I bought 2 of these from MF looking for a reasonably priced condenser microphone to record my son's jazz ensemble at live performances. I was really impressed with the clarity and quality these deliver. The brass, woods, guitars, percussion, and keyboards are all splendid running them though my PreSonus 16.4.2. For the price, they can't be beat! They also work fantastically on vocals. The switchable patterns is also a great plus. I plan on ordering a couple more just to have on hand. They will replace my 58's for vocal mics.

          Amazing Clarity

          By NPAve

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2050 Multi-Pattern Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

This mic will do everything you want, and more. I have successfully used it for vocals, acoustic instruments (guitar/upright/sax) and it sounds perfect. Amazing clarity. I was recording from the mic, through a decent Peavey mixer and into FL Studio and / or Ableton Live and / or Reason Record. Amazing mic, would recommend to anybody looking for an affordable, pro quality mic.

          Excellent Studio Mic

          By SaxtotheMax

          from Austin, TX

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2050 Multi-Pattern Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

This condenser is excellent due to the clarity that comes through the mix when this is being used. I love using this microphone on vocals, guitars, and as overheads my drum kit. Buy two of these awesome mics and use just them to mic an entire drum kit. As far as vocals go, this mic handles really punchy/high levels of spl, so I rarely worry about using a pop filter. Overall, this is a great mic to be used in the studio, I run it throught my Presonus Firestudio and with a little extra software or analog EQing, this mic sings.
