Comments about Audio-Technica Pro 42 Propoint Miniature Cardioid Condenser Boundary Microphone:

I tested variations of placement inside acoustic guitar. I had seen some advice that a boundary mic on the inside of the back facing soundhole would produce somewhat more natural result than some of the 'acoustic' mics out there. I figured it would be passable when blended with saddle p/u. Well I was pleasantly surprised, the overall tone is much more even than I thought. That was not true in other placements. Only the position on the inside of back sounded right. With a bit of EQ this was a pretty nice mic'd acoustic sound. I find that if you notch out 120 hz and cut it about 8-10db and also get a narrow band of 2.6khz take it down 4 or 5 db. Then what is left is even sound and sweet highs, if you want a bit more on low E string boost 75 hz a little. Add it with my saddle and it is a wonderful sound. Of course it is not like having 2 wonderful studio mics perfectly placed outside the guitar... you are never going to get that with an internal mic, but this is a useful and believable acoustic tone.... Looking forward to using this sound on stage and in studio.

Comments about Audio-Technica Pro 42 Propoint Miniature Cardioid Condenser Boundary Microphone:

Bought two of these last year to pick up the choir and group readers. They can be hidden on tables or velcroed to stands, carpeting, or fabric and then easily moved. Just bought two more to boost some stringed instruments and another section of the cavernous sanctuary. And it picks up the sound in a natural way--it doesn't feel like we're forcing the amplification. Make sure you have phantom power on. I love the long thin cords. You can place these things anywhere. They're durable too. They get bumped all the time (stepped on once) and not a dent.
