I bought two of these microphones for my studio and they're held up by a couple of DR Pro boom stands, which by the way are the sturdiest stands ever. These mics are used as overheads in my setup; mainly. But, I also use them along with my Audio Technica at2050 to mic acoustic guitars, vocals, and even my school band and orchestra. These mics are just as good as the high end microphones, such as the AKG condensers and the Rodes and even the Shures (SM81). I know because I have used these other condensers as well, but for the crystal sounds, the superb value( I can tell that these babies are going to last a while, because I've already droped them a few times and they don't even have scuff marks on them), and an overall score of 5.0 out 5. well, I'd just have to say that if you don't buy a pair of these right now, you are throwing your money down the toilet on other microphones.

This mic is a little light on the low end, which makes it perfect for a hi-hat or ride cymbal, because you don't have to use EQ to get that gross low ringing out. As overheads I preferred Oktava MC012's which pick up the low end a lot better, but like I said, this is an awesome hi-hat or close-cymbal mic.

Nice Percussion Mic

Comments about Audix Fusion f15 Mic:

I purchased this item as a Stupid Deal about eight months ago, and I am glad that I did. I expected the f15 to be a solid percussion mic, and it definitely is. Putting it into a cajon's sound port resulted in a crisp, clear, and detailed representation of that instrument's sound. Surprisingly enough, I also found that it did a good job in capturing lead electric guitar lines when placed about five inches from the amp's speaker. Close-miking resulted in a sound that was a bit too punchy for me, though it might work for others. Overall, this could be a useful mic for anyone recording percussion (especially hand percussion), and it may also have some unexpected additional uses, depending on the user's tastes and equipment.

Used it to record myself at home playing bagpipe practice chanter and claves. Mike sounds fine; particularly good on highs from claves. Picks up sound from metronome even when placed behind mike. .

I got 2 of these to use as drum overhead mics and the sound was great. The cymbals came through the mix crisp and clear. I got them on the stupid deal of the day but they are worth every penny of the regular price

I have two of these along with AKG C430's and a Shure SM94 in my mic case and love them. They work well as drum and choir overheads, on hi hats, violins / fiddles. Well worth the cash at full price and it would be Stupid not to get one when they are the Stupid Deal of the Day.

Comments about Audix Fusion f15 Mic:

My band and I have been in the middle of recording a project and, having thought for a long time about purchasing a pair of pencil condenser microphones for the purpose of capturing the high-end sounds of acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, etc., saw a deal available for a pair of these and made an impulse purchase. Now that I have had a chance to work with them for a few days, I can say that my decision was a good one indeed.

For recording solo guitar, this little mic can be a bit thin. BUT -- pair it with a large diaphragm condenser and it really shines. Great mic for the price, and a welcome addition to my home studio!

I'm using these as overhead microphones for acoustic drums in my home studio. They give a clear, clean signal and give the toms a good full sound. They do seem to clip the cymbal signal a little, although the cymbal sound is still a good representation of the cymbals themselves. A great value.

Comments about Audix Fusion f15 Mic:

I needed to replace a mic I had been using on high hat (the one I had was beaten into submission by a heavy handed drummer). When the Fusion F15 came up on the Stupid Deal Of The Day, I decided is was well worth the bet.

I took it out for the first time, and wow!!! No fizz or splat...just clean high end for days. The output was just right (I've had condensers that were way too hot in a high hat/cymbals application).

For high hat and cymbals, this mic is great. It's got a really nice roll off starting at 100Hz, so I don't have to go crazy with the high pass filter at the console.

That said, if you were to use these as overheads to try to capture the entire kit, you might be a little disappointed because of this roll off. But if you're just looking to reinforce the cymbals and add some air to the kit, they're great.

Oh yeah, they've got a nice heft to them as well. They don't feel like they're going to break if you look at 'em wrong.

I've been using some of the Audix OM-7's for vocals (perfect if you're a singing guitarist in a loud band), but this is the first time I've used anything in the Fusion line. Much like Shure's PG line, this mic gives you a lot of the performance at a fraction of the price. I'll be ordering more of these!
