    Strange but True

Strange is my description for this little microphone because I don't know of another like it! It is a small diaphragm mike, despite being side-address. Actually, a very small electric element, not that there's anything wrong with that. Some of the most accurate (and expensive) mikes out there have the same setup. I bought a pair of these C3s as spot mikes in live recording (choirs and such) and the multi-pattern feature is a definite plus for this. I know of no other microphone -- at least at this price range -- with the same feature set. It's also handy as a studio mike on acoustic instruments. The figure-8 setting is excellent in that role, surprisingly flat response with good side rejection.Quibbles: a tad noisy, but that's to be expected with the very small diaphragm. It's a trade-off. The fitting are mostly plastic and could degrade over time. No problems so far though, I would point out. There is a foam wind screen inside the mesh head-basket that will also degrade eventually and it's not so easy getting it out. I opened up the mike and removed it right away (there goes the warranty!) which improved the sound a bit too.

    Fantastic Microphone!

    By LegendaryCJ

    from Little Falls, MN

First, this mic is gold colored & has three switches on it that aren't shown in the product image. Switch #1. 0 to -10 db #2. Freq response #3. Low cutAlso not shown is a great, HARD shelled case with thick foam padding with which to house your new mic. This mic sounds phenomenal - and I'm not exaggerating at all. I can be feet away from it and it sounds like I'm singing straight into it. The response is smooth as silk and I just love it. Cons - All documentation is in foreign languages. (Not English). Other than that very minor knock against it, it far exceeds what I expected & I'm very happy. Behringer & Musician's Friend rock - I'm a big fan now!

A great addition to your mic collection!

I have owned this mic for over a month, and just like every other piece of Berry gear I have, the mic performs way above the price point. I got this to round out my mic setup, and it does it fantastically!3 Directional responses, absolutely dead on directionality and separation for each one. The Fig8 is perfect for my M/S experiments. One thing that most every add I have seen does not mention is that this mic also has 10db & 75Hz Low Cut switches, and they work 100%. The mic is also a golden color, not bright silver like the pic.Female vocals, Acoustic Guitar & Mandolin, and Room mic'ing is where I have tried it so far, and am totally happy with each. The Omni setting is almost ruler flat, while the other 2 settings are warm & reasonably smooth in the mid's & highs as measured with my Penguin system thru a OMNI & Delta66.I have owned the MXL990 for 4 years now, and I have to say that this is a smoother sounding mic, and a better buy for us home studio owners. Recommended!
