    This is it!

    By Chris/Vocals

    from Toronto, ON

I did an extensive search on Condenser Mics and my preference and budget came across the M-Audio Luna. It's an inexpensive mic but I'll tell you this, I've used the Neumann TLM 103, AKG 414 (ewww) and others and the Luna is by far the best one I've used. It's so versatile, I've used it for vocals, male and female, mainly RNB/Rock/Metal/Hip-Hop, it just does it all. The vocals are so crystal clear and the esses are excellent, they come out so well once the De-esser is dialed it (unlike other mics). I just knew when I heard the Esses that it was going to come out perfect after De-Essing. You can't get anything better for that price... It's no U87, but it'll do for your studio... Let's face it, once you process everything, no one will even know the difference between mics anyway.Go get one!

    M Audio Luna

    By Power to the People

Upon unpacking the M Audio Luna mic you realize that this mic is heavy and seems to be of good quality. I have recorded the first time with this mic last night, here are my impressions in regards to sound. The main thing to mention is that this mic does not add any high end sparkle to recorded vocals. If you want a mic that enhances the low end of your vocal recording, then the Luna is the right mic for you. I would not recommend the Luna if its your one and only mic in the studio but it will make a good addition to your mic collection. I have only recorded vocals with the Luna, not guitar, but can imagine that the Luna is very good for recording acoustic guitar due to the fact that it somewhat suppresses the high end and so reduces the often unwanted "clang" you get when recording acoustic guitar

    Crisp & Clean

    By SoundMan-aHWKr

I was recording an accoustic guitar that had a lot of warmth. My other large diaphram condensors had warm sounds to them which added to the guitar and just made it too boomy. I love those other mics but in this instance they just didn't cut it. This mic was perfect. It captured the warmth without adding more to it. On vocals I like it for backups since it lacks the warmth to make the lead nice and thick.

    I think I'm in love.

    By DaVeSaNiTy

I am nearly finished building my own home based and mobile recording studio and I did the most research on microphones, because I demand the best, regardless of the price. Thus far, I recommend M-Audio, because M-Audio has the most attractive prices for industry standard products on the market. If your on a tight budget, I recommend the Luna. If your not on a tight budget, I recommend the Solaris. If your on no budget, I recommend the Sputnik or conduct research on a suitable microphone from Neumann. I know industry professionals who use M-Audio for vocals and nearly every instrument section. M-Audio is my new favorite brand for home based and project recording studio equipment and I recommend M-Audio to industry professionals and especially amateurs who are researching or don't have the time to research a good brand for their studio, be it home based or project.

    excellent

    By Scott-kD9QL

this mic is great. it smokes the nt-1 when it comes to recording vocals, they are so crisp and clear, it's great. the one thing i've learned during my time as an engineer is that it is alot easier to make brightly recorded vocals muddy than it is to make muddy vocals brighter. the presence in the 3-10k range is just out of this world! my vocals tend to go from baritone crooning to outright screams and thats really where this thing shines... the screams just cut right through! it gives it a much more pro sound than i have gotten out of the rsm-2 ribbon i sometimes use for vocals as well (also an excellent mic for the money by the way...) when coupled with a nice tube pre it just feeds into the tube warmth with it's sound, the tube distortion really compliments it's presence... i gave it an 8 for features since it doesn't come with pad, directional or lo/hi pass switches, but it's big brother does, so i guess it's really a non-issue. i also use it on kick drums almost religiously, it picks up the click like nobody's business... you do need to add a bit of beef to it in post, but for fast kick rolls it does wonders for bringing out the individual hits... one side note, i do my recording digitally and i really think thats the best use for this mic.

    Couldn't B Happier

I've yet to find a situation that this microphone didn't perform to and/or exceed my expectations. I've used it mainly for live orchestral, jazz band recordings, and vocals but would be afraid to try it for anything.

I own this mic and its been nothing but great! I would recommend it to anyone interested in a really good vocal sounds or acoustic sound. Thats what I've used it for so far, but I'm sure you can get excellent recordings from other intstruments as well. It's great for the price.

    This microphone rocks!

    By fweak

    from Granby, QC

Ok, it's my first microphone but I must say that compared to my old MXL Fox that piece of microphone is by far the best i've heard. I can compare my sound with commercial recorded songs! I love my Luna, and also I've dropped, accidently, the mic a couple of times and i thought it was broken (the grid is damaged), but it still works, and works really good. Long life to my Luna!

    Mr. Natural

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Upon entry into the world of digital recording, I wanted a cardoid mic of decent value to record acoustic guitar and vocals. After using other M Audio products, I was convinced of their commitment to quality, and attractive pricing. After my first session, burnt to CD, I played the recording on my home stereo and no one in the house could distinguish the live sound of my acoustic from the recorded version. Vocals are just as natural sounding. If you own quality acoustic instruments, this mic will give you dead on reproduction. I've used it with acoustic guitar, mandolin and vocals with outstanding results. Pleased with the natural tone of all of my acoustic gear, I have never found it necessary to add effects when mixing down to stereo. (I have not used the Luna in live situations.)
