Comments about MXL 3000 Mic Bundle:

I record on a Tascam 2488 which has phantom power that is needed to use the mic. The MXL 3000 has a warm and realistic sound. The more I use it, the more I like it. The mic delivers your voice clearly with a smooth, solid tone. It is a great investment at a good price.

Comments about MXL 3000 Mic Bundle:

I got this microphone bundle when it was on sale during the 'Santa Savings" event on a whim, expecting that I'd get a mic like the 990, in which it is nothing like. I use it with my TASCAM DP-32 that I got along with the microphone. It sounds 3x it's value to me. It's very reminiscent of possibly some older Neumann's, but it's a little rocky with it's bass. This microphone needs a little bit of EQ, but I tell you; it's worth it's value. I would gladly buy it again.

Now the Mogami cable is really nice, the shock mount and the pop filter is very slightly on the cheaper side- yet very nice, nevertheless. Also, the blue finish on the mic easily scratches on the shock mount, which happened on mine.

Comments about MXL 3000 Mic Bundle:

I upgraded from a Samson mic to this MXL and I can say that there was a noticeable difference. This mic has crisp sound quality and it durable. I picked it up for half price during the Black Friday sale and I couldn't be happier.

Comments about MXL 3000 Mic Bundle:

I have been using the 3000 on a nearly non-stop EP project for the last 3 weeks. While not comparable to a $1000+ mic, it clearly out-performs any condenser mic that I have used at anything close to its price. Pretty close to natural sounding and very sensitive (which is both a plus and a minus in a home studio). The accessories are all solid--I would have paid a few bucks extra for a case, though. Highly recommend.

              Great Sounding Mic

I got this mic kit after listening to a lot of comparisons and reading reviews. I will buy a famous brand item when I know that item is the best, but in the case of microphones, it's not a two-horse town any more. The MXL, Equation and other super-low-cost yet high quality mics have really helped us build home studios without the massive costs of traditional studios.

I'm very pleased with the vocalist kit, and love having that pop filter, especially. The mic has a very flat response, as intended, so don't let that throw you. You'll want to do your vocal processing in post production, or using a live processor, but even direct, the mic has a great sound, very sensitive and clean-sounding, for a modern vocal sound, and I'm amazed it sounds that good for its cost. For reference, I use the Mogami cable into a Soundcraft mixer and then from there into a Marantz digital recorder, with processing done later on the computer.
