A true, pressure-gradient condenser microphone that's a match for any singer.

The V250 is a small-diaphragm FET condenser microphone, and, as such, is good for a wide variety of applications, from vocals to room applications, to acoustic instruments. And it has a detailed, articulate sound that makes subtle nuances shine. It’s where force meets finesse. It’s the perfect match for any singer, and it can’t miss with acoustic guitars and pianos.

I feel inclined to review, since I went in on one blindly. Overall, this mic is better on vocals than the 990 is, at they are not as muddy, you can tell a difference in the mids and highs; Its also very sensitive. Once you EQ, you can make this Mic sound pretty darn good. The build of the mic is nice, theres not a ton of mesh on the wire grill like there is on the 990, but this mic pops rather easily, so make sure you have the pop filter, and you may need to speak off to the side of the mic. Although it feels sturdy, it is a bit light, which makes me not want to drop it. I give this product a 9/10, the only thing that couldve made it better was including a shockmount. If you need shockmount size, aim for the V67G or the V57 size as the 990 shockmount is too wide to fit it. At the price right now, it is pretty much a steal, just dont forget to buy a shockmount!
This mic does not contain any specific features such as a DB switch or anything else, just a microphone similar to others like the MXL V57 or V67M.
The build quality feels sturdy and well designed, not quite as heavy as the MXL 990, although I feel like you would not want to drop this microphone on the floor.
I decided to go in on this mic with no reviews; I was pleasently surprised. The only thing that couldve made the deal better was including a shock mount with the packaging. I ended up getting the musiciansgeat shockmount to accompany it (fits the mic a little tight, but it works).

Decent sound. Relatively inexpensive. I also have an MXL-V63M condenser mic and even though they're similar in price I prefer the V63M over the V250. Not a bad mic though! Especially if you just simply need another condenser for whatever reason. Feels a little light, like it's not as solid as the V63M. Still a good mic though.

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

I own an AKG C2000, Audio Technica 2035, two Shure 87A's and a pair of Rode NT1 mics. This MXL V250 cost a small fraction of what those mics cost and is at least 80% to 90% as good as any of them. I bought this as a Stupid Deal so the price was rediculously minimal. I have used this on acostic guitars and vocals and it sounds very good. Mic snobs won't believe it but I'll bet in a blind test with this mic through a good tube pre-amp they couldn't tell the difference between this and many high priced mics. Highly recommended.

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

I have really enjoyed using this microphone. I am a novice and learning as I go. Thus far I have learned a lot using and experimenting and placement and the microphone itself. Still learning and the price didn't hurt either.

I purchased a pair of these microphones along with a Tascam DR-40 Portable recorder. I couldn't be happier with the results after just a short time getting the recorder and mics set up for best performance.

I've used this mic to record the bass strings on a stereo mic'd piano (using a CAD C9 on the treble strings) and I've also used it to record vocals and the sound is clear and full. I would buy again for sure.

I've been using two of these mics every day for two weeks on recording project. I'm trying to find something bad to say about it, but honestly, it's a fantastic mic. I'm pairing these with a ART PRO VLA compressor and I'm extremely pleased with how these sound.

I have a few MXL mic's..this in a side by side was the best...when I ran it though a tube preamp it was beautiful.....heads up..the Musician's Gear Shock Mount fits this nicely...if I did not already own 4 MXL's I would buy another....getting it as the Stupid Deal of The Day was brillant...

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

Neuman, Blue, Heil, AKG, Senheiser, and Shure are industry standards for microphone choices and are a must for any studio. MXL microphones should be added to the list. The V250 I just received is bright, clear and sensitive. Yes, it is cheap but only in price. The construction and design are spot on and with the addition of Mogami wiring this thing will surprise to socks right off you. Stop being a mic snob and give MXL a shot!

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

I use a pair for recording drum overheads and they work great. A slight peak at 5khz makes the cymbals stand out in the final mix without being harsh. I have some high end mics that sound flat compared to these MXL's. Full sounding for most instruments that I've tried. Probably good on some vocals but a little thin and doesn't compliment my voice. A low cut and attenuator would make this more versatile, but overall a solid mic at a great price when on sale.
