I feel inclined to review, since I went in on one blindly. Overall, this mic is better on vocals than the 990 is, at they are not as muddy, you can tell a difference in the mids and highs; Its also very sensitive. Once you EQ, you can make this Mic sound pretty darn good. The build of the mic is nice, theres not a ton of mesh on the wire grill like there is on the 990, but this mic pops rather easily, so make sure you have the pop filter, and you may need to speak off to the side of the mic. Although it feels sturdy, it is a bit light, which makes me not want to drop it. I give this product a 9/10, the only thing that couldve made it better was including a shockmount. If you need shockmount size, aim for the V67G or the V57 size as the 990 shockmount is too wide to fit it. At the price right now, it is pretty much a steal, just dont forget to buy a shockmount!
This mic does not contain any specific features such as a DB switch or anything else, just a microphone similar to others like the MXL V57 or V67M.
The build quality feels sturdy and well designed, not quite as heavy as the MXL 990, although I feel like you would not want to drop this microphone on the floor.
I decided to go in on this mic with no reviews; I was pleasently surprised. The only thing that couldve made the deal better was including a shock mount with the packaging. I ended up getting the musiciansgeat shockmount to accompany it (fits the mic a little tight, but it works).

Decent sound. Relatively inexpensive. I also have an MXL-V63M condenser mic and even though they're similar in price I prefer the V63M over the V250. Not a bad mic though! Especially if you just simply need another condenser for whatever reason. Feels a little light, like it's not as solid as the V63M. Still a good mic though.

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

Did not say anything about phantom switch on board, I found my board has no phantom switch after friends showed me what to look for. Called Musicians Friend and they were very helpful in getting me fixed up. Condenser mike worked very good once I added box to it. We use it for singers that come up on stage at Jam at RV park.

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

Very pleased with the pricing and quality of these condenser mics. I received the mics relatively quickly in the mail.
I use them mainly for live performances for open mic events in a small space and in a small church chapel. They pick up small nuances for vocals and acoustic guitars very well!
I would definitely recommend these (especially at those prices!)

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

Not too bad for the SDOTD price but I would feel extremely cheated had I paid the full retail price.
Suitable for acoustic guitars, overheads, back-up vocals etc.... Definitely part of the B-team.
We put it up against a Studio Projects B1 that retails at a slightly lower price point, and the V250 sounded like junk in comparison, harsh and quick to distort.
I don't really regret buying it at the price I did, but I doubt I will use it much, probably look to trade it off as soon as the opportunity arises. Would not recommend to a friend.
Check out a Studio Projects B1 (slightly cheaper)or C1 (slightly more expensive) before paying full retail for this thing if you are looking for a decent budget condenser because this one sounds very "budget" and quite frankly there are MUCH better options out there for the money nowadays.

I bought one because of the price and positive reviews. After plugging it in and using this mic I immediately bought another. I mic a resonator guitar with both of them and I am satisfied.

My first condenser mic, and it's a winner. As good as my relative's High end rig, maybe better! I was looking for a condenser mic for vocals and guitar. This is a steal at this price.

I use this mic for vocals and acoustic guitar. Fantastic! I go thru a small non- powered mixer into the Kustom Personal PA, and I love the sound. Clear, warm, articulate ... Quite amazing actually. I now own four of these.

Needed one more mike for the studio and didn't want to spend
a fortune. This mike appeared to be a decent piece of equipment for the price. I was quite surprised when it arrived...looks like a much higher piece of gear. Compared it to my AT 4033....Sounds almost identical at a fraction of the price! It's not quite as sensitive but sound wise only someone with brilliant ears could probably tell the differences. Glad I bought it!

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

This is a great mic for recording vocals & acoustic instruments. Yes, it is very inexpensive but don't let that fool you into believing it wouldn't perform well. It does. For recording I use one of those little ART tube preamps and the two pair up very nicely with the tube warming up the sound a touch. That pairing is especially nice when I am recording analogue. It captures the little details in voice recording and when recording acoustic instruments. It works particularly well capturing my octave mandolin, bulbul taurang and oud. It also records tablas & bodhran nicely. The only con is that they are pretty fragile. Mine fell about a foot onto a carpeted floor and the middle part broke off. I was able to superglue it into place & it works fine. I has happened a couple of times & it's glued back every time & still works flawlessly. Most highly recommended, just be careful.

I purchased because of the pre-amp in the mic...
This thing just blew me away..!.. I've been searching for an affordable condenser to record vocals in the home studio...This is it.
Great presence clarity and reproduction. I'm writing this review while ordering another one to go with my first.. As Peyton Manning would say
