I feel inclined to review, since I went in on one blindly. Overall, this mic is better on vocals than the 990 is, at they are not as muddy, you can tell a difference in the mids and highs; Its also very sensitive. Once you EQ, you can make this Mic sound pretty darn good. The build of the mic is nice, theres not a ton of mesh on the wire grill like there is on the 990, but this mic pops rather easily, so make sure you have the pop filter, and you may need to speak off to the side of the mic. Although it feels sturdy, it is a bit light, which makes me not want to drop it. I give this product a 9/10, the only thing that couldve made it better was including a shockmount. If you need shockmount size, aim for the V67G or the V57 size as the 990 shockmount is too wide to fit it. At the price right now, it is pretty much a steal, just dont forget to buy a shockmount!
This mic does not contain any specific features such as a DB switch or anything else, just a microphone similar to others like the MXL V57 or V67M.
The build quality feels sturdy and well designed, not quite as heavy as the MXL 990, although I feel like you would not want to drop this microphone on the floor.
I decided to go in on this mic with no reviews; I was pleasently surprised. The only thing that couldve made the deal better was including a shock mount with the packaging. I ended up getting the musiciansgeat shockmount to accompany it (fits the mic a little tight, but it works).

Decent sound. Relatively inexpensive. I also have an MXL-V63M condenser mic and even though they're similar in price I prefer the V63M over the V250. Not a bad mic though! Especially if you just simply need another condenser for whatever reason. Feels a little light, like it's not as solid as the V63M. Still a good mic though.

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

I use a pair for recording drum overheads and they work great. A slight peak at 5khz makes the cymbals stand out in the final mix without being harsh. I have some high end mics that sound flat compared to these MXL's. Full sounding for most instruments that I've tried. Probably good on some vocals but a little thin and doesn't compliment my voice. A low cut and attenuator would make this more versatile, but overall a solid mic at a great price when on sale.

Used them as room mics. They were plenty good for that. Worked well in conjunction with a 57 on a guitar amp. Not a very rich sounding mic but for the money it will do the job pretty well.

With the clarity comes hyper-sensitivity, but once a balance is set on the mixer, it is the best sound ever.

The raw sound is pretty bland and even a little weak. If you crank it up you can get descent signal. The overall tone is not that great. If you run it through some processors and hardcore EQ you can make it work. For the price you can't expect a lot anyway. Ive heard worse condensers for the same price

I bought this on the SDOTD, the price was just too good to pass up. However, don't bother using this mic without a pop filter. You could try, but it would be much more hassle than it's worth. I haven't messed around with the mic too much yet, but from what I've used so far it sounds pretty good. A definite step up from the MXL990. I recorded with it right out of the box, no preamp, just straight into my multitrack. If you'd like to hear how it sounded, here is link so you can get an idea what you're getting:

Comments about MXL V250 Condenser Microphone:

Good mic, but not sensitive on the high spectrum. Would be good for a guitar amp mic for this reason. Vocals not good for close range, but great for belters and screamers, if you stand about two feet from the screen. Would be a good room ambience mic, sensitive enough to pick up low conversation over average room, and the lack of high end makes it good for a band-in-a-bedroom situation. Probably good drum mic too, but I haven't had the time to use it for that yet. It's also caught an accidental elbow several times in our studio, seems to be solid so far.
