Excellent for horns, strings, and percussion!

The Sennheiser e614 is a supercardioid back-electret condenser microphone. The e814 mic was designed for demanding instrument recordings that require extended frequency response, high SPL, fast transient response and compact mic size. While percussion pick-up was the first design priority, the e614 also works exceptionally well on woodwind and string instruments, and is a good choice for flute and sax where it captures the full body of the instrument. The e614 can handle high SPLs and features a medium sensitivity, which ensures reduced bleed from other instruments onstage. Because of its excellent acoustic properties this mic is also ideal for home recording.

Designed for demanding applications where extended frequency range, high SPL,
fast transient response and small size are required. Captures the "air" and the body of the instrument. Nearly flat response from 40Hz to 20kHz and a super cardioid pattern. Includes pouch and mic clip.
      Requires phantom power.

Comments about Sennheiser E614 Overhead Condenser Microphone:

I needed a mic to replace my old overheads. I bought one of the e614, to compare them to each other during a sound check. After listening to the old mic and the e614 I realized how smooth the e614 was, no eq required takes care of all the harshness you tend to get with overhead mics. I plan on buying one more.

        An Acoustic Guitars Friend

Comments about Sennheiser E614 Overhead Condenser Microphone:

If you mic a live acoustic guitar for either live performance or recording you will find this to be an exemplary tool. It offers a very small footprint, and hence no acoustic abnormalities. It is rich and true where portraying the character of an acoustic instrument is concerned. It is plenty sensitive, and very competitive in the area of self noise. Frankly IMHO it more than gives a Neumann 184 a run, and considering the money saved that is a statement. Just a great sonic value....

Use this with my school as drum overheads and they are simply amazing. Clear and crisp without any unwanted noise.
