A vey good condenser for the money. Works flawlessly with my audio interface. The included cable and the desktop stand are a sweet addition . A shook mount would be a recommended accessory if anyone chooses to use it for field applications. However, for this price? Give me a break! Thanks (again)to Tascam for another great affordable product..and to musician's friend for their excellent service and unbeatable deals.

This is a reasonable amateur-quality condenser. It's a bit dark for acoustic stringed instruments, but is OK for lower vocal ranges, amps or spoken word.

Finish was not great on mine and the microphone is a bit light not to be tippy on the provided small desk tripod, especially if used with the lumpy provided XLR cable (why are cables not shipped coiled so they will eventually straighten out, instead of crushed for life with a tie wrap?).

It's an adequate microphone, but you can do better for its everyday price. As a free bonus, it's great, though.

Comments about TASCAM TM78 Condenser Microphone:

Got this mic free with the purchase of my Tascam DP-24 MTR. Was skeptical going in, but went with it since I didn't have the money to add a higher quality mic for my home studio yet. I gotta say, I love the sound I get laying down acoustic guitar on my Taylor 714CE. Very clear, natural, and sounds killer on the demos I've done so far. No EQ needed. Gonna hold on to this puppy!

Comments about TASCAM TM78 Condenser Microphone:

I really like the TM78. I have been using it to record acoustic guitar. With a tube pre-amp and no added eq I get a very natural sound. It is sensative without picking up everything in the room. It seems more focused than other studio-style ondensor mics. The TM78 seems to limit the booming low end that can be come from acoustic guitar. I think it will be good for guitar speakers and live vocals. It's good to have several different mics to try for studio and live application. Get 1.

Comments about TASCAM TM78 Condenser Microphone:

I'm a seasoned musician having toured and performed all over the U.S., Europe, and more – so I have certain expectations of equipment and know you get what you pay for. But the Tascam TM78 has blown me away with its quality for such a low price! I'm using it with the Tascam DP24 (portastudio) and the TM78 ribbon mic is crystal clear on the front but more muffled on the back. There is a real difference between clarity at the front and back. It is a very low noise mic for the price. We use it to record rehearsals and it is perfect for this use. I set it up in the middle of the band and it gets everything. We can record the rehearsal and the recordings are excellent representatives of our live sound. Great addition to our toolbox! And it comes with a cable, stand, and converter nut!
