Comments about Numark PT-01 Touring Record Player:
The PT-01 Touring is similar to Numark's other portable turntable, the PT-01 USB, but comes in a more elegant/retro design. It has old-school built in speakers that can get pretty loud, but the unit can also be connected to a stereo for better sound. Comes with a cable which can be used to connect with a computer for digitalization of your records with a downloadable app. An adapter is also included so that the cable can be used to plug the unit into a wall socket for power, or to recharge the built in battery. Unlike the PT-01 USB model which can plug into a wall socket or run off of C batteries, the "Touring" model has a rechargeable, built in battery. Cost-wise you'll save money by not having to keep replacing used batteries. However, if you're outside having a picnic somewhere, or you're checking the condition of used records at a flea market before making a purchase, you're out of luck if your battery runs out until you can plug in and/or recharge. That's about the only drawback I can think of with the integrated battery system. This turntable doesn't take up much space, and can be easily stored away. Also looks cool just sitting on a table or shelf. Be aware that the relatively compact size means that a full LP size record will stick out over the side of the player, and you need to take this into account when setting aside shelf space. The lid is attached with screws (unlike the "USB" model where the lid slides off), so it needs a little space above and behind it to accommodate th elid when playing. Finally, unlike the "USB" model there is no "pitch" controll, other than the3 speed controll. No problem for me, but someone looking for portable dj'ing turntables that allow for subtle pitch blending between different records might be better served with the USB model. Not as flashy as some of the Crowley models, but the arm is weighted so it won't ruin the grooves of your records. This is a great product that I own and recommend
