i got a pair of the sennheiser noise cancelling headphones as a gift, but they got chewed by my cat. i could only afford these sonys to replace them. guess what? if you are only using them to listen to music (ipod, computer, portable dvd player) you probably won't tell much of a difference. definitely not a $100.00 difference. so unless you want to spend the extra cash for a negligible difference in quality, get the sony headphones.
Sooo I asked for the Pioneer DJ Headphones for x-mas and this is what i got... a BIT dissapointed, but the pioneers are on the way NOW... These sonys pack a punch compared to other small on-ear headphones, as a sound engineer and a professional musician, these are great for just listening to music. NOT for mixing... the Freq. Response ((for me)) is like a "U". LOTS of bass, LOTS of high end treble ((around 1-15k)) and the bass goes to bout 45 Hz. not great, but useful.
I've had these for six months and like them a lot! I use them in a variety of situations from recording to gaming! I do use them to record acoustic drum tracks but as expected for the price, they don't cancel the drums, as the SPL and DBL are way too high at that short distance. At lower levels the noise cancellation works well and I even find myself wearing them when I'm not listing to any audio, just to mute noises from the people in the other room!Overall these are worth the price!
I use these for listening to music all the time, but I mostly use it for medical transcription work. My husband is always watching TV or playing his guitar while I am trying to work, and these headphones cancel out quite a bit of the ambient noise and allow me to work. I have used them for a little over a year, I believe, and I am about to buy another pair for my hubby to use.
I got these headphones to replace some older Sony's that I had a while back. The build is great, the sound is great, but the cord is pretty short so you might need an extension if your music device isn't right on you. The noise cancellation feature works great, and you don't have to have it on to use the headphones. I recommend these for any music listener who is looking for a cheap but quality pair of headphones with the noise cancellation feature.
I was looking for headphones that could isolate my drums and give a great full range sound. These weren't the answer. They have decent bass but the treble department is really lacking, up to only about 15k i think. Maybe its just me but all the "noise cancelling" did was make the music louder, thats all. They fit pretty comfy and are lightweight and the $50 price tag grabbed my attention. If you are just going to be using these for a portable cd player they would be fine but not for any musicians use. I'm going to return these and check out the shure or sennheiser. You get what you pay for when it comes to electronics.
So I bought these today so I could listen to music and play along on my drums, and let me say they work great. I tried regular ipod headphones with big earmuff type things over them and that didn't work nearly as good as these do. I was actually surprised by how quiet these make my drums, with good quality too.
