It's best to use your computer's sound card with this program. Never mind the other gizmos suggested. I use a Sound Blaster Platinum X-Fi sound card from Creative Technologies. If you have trouble bringing up the score for your project, it's best to check your previous program's device setup and see how that's set up. Then set up Cubase 7 the same way. Cubase is the best DAW I have used so far. It has always worked on my Windows 7 64 bit platform. No glitches heree.
