DigiTechIn 1987, DigiTech brought out the first multi-effects processor, the DSP128. DigiTech also marketed the IPS33, the first commercially successful intelligent harmonizer. That instrument harmonizer was followed by the DigiTech Vocalist, which produced up to 5-part harmonies and became a massive success. In 1990, the world was treated to the invention of the DigiTech Whammy Pedal, a pitch-shifting pedal that continues to influence guitar players. The DigiTech Whammy uses digital technology to shift pitch up or down by rocking a foot pedal. With the Whammy, you can dive-bomb with the likes of Steve Vai, Tom Morello, Joe Satriani, Joe Perry, and Munky and Head from Korn, all of whom have used the DigiTech Whammy Pedal in one of its incarnations. The DigiTech Bass Whammy was a Whammy pedal built for the bass guitar. It featured the same chassis as the DigiTech Whammy II with different harmony options than the other Whammy models.
