OVERVIEW

If the meat and potatoes of rock is to your liking, you'll live happily ever after with all the timeless tone in this impressive little stompbox.

It doesn't get much more classic than the Behringer Tube Overdrive TO100. Unlike the heavily saturated distortion sounds found in most metal and hard rock pedals, this little dirt box produces the harmonic grind that occurs naturally when a tube amp is cranked up nice and loud. The TO100 is extremely versatile and ultra-responsive.

With its simple Drive, Tone and Level dials, you can harness any degree of overdrive--from slightly dirty to hot and crunch! The blue LED tells you when it's activated, and the durable on/off switch maintains crystal-clear signal integrity in bypass mode.

FEATURES
  • Tube-like distortion, smooth sustain and super fat tone
  • Captures every nuance of your playing
  • Dedicated Drive, Tone and Level controls
  • Status LED
  • Runs on 9V battery or the Behringer PSU-SB DC power supply
  • First-class electronic on/off switch

If the essence of rock is what you seek, then call or click to pick up the TO100.

I have an old Fender Twin Reverb that I wanted to dirty up a bit. This pedal does it cheaply and does it well. Yes, it's made of plastic, but I found the construction robust. Switch and bypass are both quiet.
Has a nice crunch, especially with strong pickups like humbuckers or old P-90s. Pretty good control over drive, tone and output gain. Four stars instead of five because at the lowest drive setting, it's too crunchy for me. I would like to be able to get just a little bit of that breakup, but it goes from none (off) to a little too much overdrive for my taste.
Other reviews say it eats batteries. As long as I unplug it after I use it, have not had that issue. Plus, you can use it with an external power supply.
I don't play metal, and you can't get that extreme overdrive with just this pedal. But you can get some pretty intense crunch if you use it in front of another overdrive channel.
This is great for those times when I don't want everything Fender clean. And with such a reasonable price, it's a great addition to my gear.

I have a number of Behringer pedals as their price point has allowed me to experiment with which pedals I needed after getting my first tube amp. I have a number of OD pedals but priced less than 2 Happy Meals it was worth a roll of the dice.

There is good news and bad news. First the bad- The knobs on this pedal are more wobbly than other Behringer pedals I own. They function fine, but add to the cheap feel of the pedal. Also, this thing is a juice hog. My NiMH 9v batteries only last for about 20 minutes before requiring swap out. Compared to all my other pedals this is a very short time. I recommend you have a 9v power supply or external battery connector of some kind.

The good news- This thing sounds fantastic. I have a EHX Soul Food, a Boss OD-2, a Digitech Screamin' Blues pedal and a Behringer VT911 as well as the TO100. The Behringer TO100 is that OD pedal that can take an SS amp (or tube) right to the edge of breakup without a lot of sound coloration. It won't take you into distortion like my other pedals, but I don't think it was meant to be a fuzz.

No, it isn't rock solid like a Boss or other boutique pedal. But I paid nine washingtons for it and it's well worth that amount of money. If you're new to pedals and you want to see what an OD does, this is a cheap way to get into it.

I would love to get it side by side with an Ibanez Tube Screamer, but that's for another day.

Comments about Behringer TO100 Tube Overdrive Guitar:

This is just the thing to have to make your transistor amp have the warm slightly dirty sound of a tube amp. At less than 9 plus free shipping, if I knew how good it was, I would have bought 2 more. One of gigging, one for home and one for rehearsal. Too bad there are discontinued.

Comments about Behringer TO100 Tube Overdrive Guitar:

For the price, one of the best distortion pedals I've used. Not that I've used a lot, but a good amount of standard pedals. It adds just the right amount of "dirt" to a clean lead to make it very good sounding.

Comments about Behringer TO100 Tube Overdrive Guitar:

This is not a metal distortion pedal. What it does, and does pretty well, is add some classic Class A tube saturation into your sound. As a matter of fact, when comparing this against my little Class A tube combo amp (a Peavey ValveKing), I think this pedal (thru a solid state amp) sounds a little better. Set the Drive to about 10-11 o'clock, and the Tone to about 3 o'clock, and the sound is really nice.

I have only had this a short time and have only used it a time or two, but it sounds great to me. The only thing is that it is made of plastic and has cheap potentiometers and switches, probably plastic as well, but for the price, I am very happy. I am not planning on stomping on this.

Really has the classic tube overdrive sound I was looking for. This is not a distortion pedal. If you want metal crunch this is not for you. If you are looking for the classic blues/ rock overdrive this pedal delivers at a give away price. Construction is all plastic, but if you treat it with care it will hold up.

I got this pedal on sale and sure, it has a hard plastic case but I'm not jumping on it and it sounds great. At the sale price I did not know what to expect but ended up loving it. Has a good tone to it with humbuckers or single coils and provides the gain I like. Go get one - you'll see. And if for some reason you don't like it, you're only out less than the cost of a cable.
