OVERVIEW

Vintage overdrive, smooth sustain and screaming fat tone.

The Behringer Vintage Tube Overdrive TO800 offers you the classic sound of blazing, overdriven vacuum tubes. In order to recreate the sound of real-tube crunch, Behringer put the original 4558 op amps and legendary MA150 distortion diodes in the TO800, putting rock's most powerful overdrive sounds at your disposal. The resulting output is extremely faithful to that of the vintage tone machines that made rock and roll history.

Dedicated Drive, Tone and Level controls let you shape exactly the sound you want. The status LED tells youwhen the TO800 is activated, and its top-quality on/off switch gives you the highest signal integrity in bypass mode.

FEATURES
  • Uses original 4558 IC plus MA150 distortion diodes for authentic vintage sound
  • Captures every nuance of your playing
  • Dedicated Drive, Tone and Level controls
  • Status LED
  • Runs on 9V battery or the Behringer PSU-SB DC power supply (not included)
  • First-class electronic on/off switch

Comments about Behringer TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

As usual, Behringer delivers great value - good performance for a low price. I will admit up front that I think about 90% of overdrive pedals are created equally, or at least that I don't have a discerning enough ear to appreciate the difference between this and the Ibanez or Maxon TS pedals that cost 5-10 times as much. I play crystal-clean tone most of the time, but once in a while I like to do a rock cover that needs some grit. I really don't like pedals and I am resisting with all my might accumulating enough pedals to necessitate a pedal board. Thus I want one pedal that can give me a range of overdrive from a little dirt like Tom Petty to grunge distortion like Alice In Chains. This Behringer TO800 fits the bill. It's probably not great sounding to audiophiles, but I would wager that 95% of listeners couldn't tell the difference between this and the more expensive mass-produced or even boutique overdrive pedals in a blind test.

My only issue, and why I give it four stars (because there is always room for improvement) is its plastic construction. I can't speak to how durable the pedal is, but a plastic shell is not the hallmark of durability. Then again, I only gig once or twice per month and I take good care of my equipment, so I expect it will last a long time.

If you need a no-frills overdrive pedal and you're not an effects-snob, this one should do you just fine.

Comments about Behringer TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got it and set it up. Has amazing sound to it, a mixture of Eddie Van Halen and Angus Young. Great vintage trasher, gives you SLIGHT distortion but makes up for it with a well replicated tube sound.

Comments about Behringer TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I purchased this after reading other reviews. For the price, this a great sound. I was really surprised. I also purchased the Behringer digital delay/reverb 400 pedal. I put both those together and the sound was fantastic. I havd been playing professionally for 35 years. I have owned almost every distortion over drive pedal since the 70's. For the price, this is a great deal. I am going to add it to my pedal board. Thanks Behringer and Musiciansfriend for a great deal on a great product!!
