OVERVIEW

In the late '70s a tiny effects maker in Japan produced a small quantity of what many believe is the definitive distortion box. It had delicious tonality and was highly responsive and versatile. Recently, a boutique pedal maker reissued that box at $300+. Danelectro offers you the D-1 Fab Distortion as a sonic equivalent to the prized original. It's equipped with Level, Tone, and Distortion controls. You'll adore it.

Fat and warm vintage distortion, priced for players.

These Fab pedals do exactly what they say. No complications, No learning curve, Just sound and a wholelotta fun!!!
Could not believe the sound from this little pedal! I have been playing many years and I now use 10" powered JBLs for both vocal and guitar. (I'm older and they're lighter.) I use an Alesis' mixer with T C Helicon Touch. I needed a slap back echo so I ordered the Dan Fab echo. I didn't want to be cheap so I through in a D-1. I mean come on for $!!!!! The slap back is great but with the D-1 It's a power house. The D-1 adds a boost, I use it before the Echo. I use very little Distortion but more for thicking the sound. Also they are nice and heavy, not cheap plastic as I thought. For beginners, or Pros. The AC adaptor is quiet and a must have. Enjoy and have fun!!
Seems good, time will tell..Treat things with care and they will last
Check out the price and shipping, No brainer.

Let me just start off by saying that you get what you paid for. This is a very inexpensive pedal, but there's always a catch.-FeaturesThe Features are adequate with level, tone, and distortion knobs. It's a simple stomp-and-play. When all three are turned up you get great metal sounds but that comes along with blistering feedback, and even when you switch to a pick that has the volume turned all the way down, you are still met with an annoying fuzz. The back wasn't that hard to unscrew to replace the battery, so that I was happy about.-QualityThe quality was decent. I bought it about four months ago and it still works perfectly fine. No scratches, dinks, dents, or blemishes of any kind. The only major-and this is a big major-downfall is that the battery is sucked up pretty quick, so be sure to buy an adapter because this pedal doesn't come with one (which I was disappointed to find out)-ValueAs I said before, you get what you pay for. For the price, the value is above average and the pedal works if you need a quick boost for a solo or lead riff, so I can't say it's all bad. But if I were you, I'd go the extra mile and get a different pedal.

Comments about Danelectro D-1 Fab Distortion:

I love these Danelectro pedals. If you are rockin out and need some distortion remeber this. Danelectro was there at the beginning of Rock and Roll and Danelectro made it possible for a kid on a shoe string budget to rock. I have recorded and played with many a product by Danelectro since 1982. I have many a good memory of how these simply constructed products work and i hope you will try them. the FAB series pedals are very affordable and often known as entry level products but you can tour with them too. IF Link Wray and a few other rockers used Danelectro and got good sound I know you will too. I have 2 FAB pedals. This Distotion pedal and I have the Echo pedal and I love both of them. I get the desired results from these pedals/ If you are building a pedalboard on a budget, this should be your first choice for pedals. Lots of fun for a little money. YES, i will buy more Danelectro pedals. BTW they make some fairly decent axes. i recorded an entire album with a Danelectro longhorn bass and the sound was amazing. Get your self one of these pedals even if it is just to have it. WHY? Because it's rock and roll that's why.

Comments about Danelectro D-1 Fab Distortion:

I was looking for a distortion pedal and got this one. Danelectro makes a lot of cool stuff. They make a variety of distortion and overdrive pedals. This is a cool pedal for straight up in your face distortion on a budget. you might need to dial in the controls to find your sweet spot but once you find that sweet spot you are ready to play. add it to some other overdrive or distortion pedals for some added flavor to your sound. I like this pedal for the price and its size and it fits on my pedal board. I use a SNARK power supply with a daisy chain so i can hook up to 15 pedals and that saves money on 9 volt batteries. I use the live wire cords to hook up all my pedals. these have 90 degree plug ins and you can order these all from Musicians Friend. If you are playing punk rock or classic rock this is a cool pedal and for you country pickers looking for a little added drive, this is your pedal.

Comments about Danelectro D-1 Fab Distortion:

Some reviewers have said that after a short period of time it stopped working. Maybe bad luck? I got a couple of these some years ago and I have even gigged with them many times (since they are easily replaceable moneywise) and they are still working fine as well as the fab Chorus, fab Overdrive and fab Echo. Granted, they are not the best sounding pedals but they deliver more than enough for what is paid. Excellent value.

Most Foot Switches Used to Come With a 9 Volt Power Adaptor or a Power Cord. (at Least They Used to Back in The 80's) None of The FAB Switches Come With it. You Must Buy a Separate Power Supply or Some 9 Volt Batteries. None of The Review or Advertising Pages Tells You it Comes Without The Power Supply. I Was Disappointed to Open The Package to Find This Out The Hard Way.

Good unit that provides a slightly warmer distortion than the D-3 Metal unit. Rich tone and smooth distortion where the D-3 has more sustain and higher tone.

Comments about Danelectro D-1 Fab Distortion:

You can't beat the Fab series pedals for the price. I don't gig out , I only play for a hobby for my own entertainment. I don't need to drop a fortune on effects, the Fab series give me what I need. Sure they are plastic, but it's a high impact plastic, and they are actually very durable.I started with the Fab Overdrive, then added the Fab Distortion, then decided to buy the whole series, as well a a Fish n Chips eq and a Cool Cat tremolo. As with any pedal you have to dial them in to find it's sweet spot, but they all have a legitamite function on a pedal board. In order of what I use the most, it's the Chorus, then the Delay, then the Overdrive, then the Distortion. The EQ is always on. The Distortion definetly gives you a nice, useable crunch and I use it mainly to darken my tone when I'm playing a guitar that is on the bright side or an amp setting that's too bright. I have it dialed in a little lower in tone than both the Fuzz and Metal pedals to give me a nice variation between the three. It's a lot of pedal for a little money.
