OVERVIEW

Coveted overdrive sounds in a fab little pedal.

Danelectro puts the D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal in your hands without wiping out your financial portfolio. History was made in 1975 when a mom-and-pop store in California commissioned the production of just 200 of what is perhaps the best guitar overdrive effect ever. Unlike any other effects unit, that pedal authentically simulated the breakup that occurs when a tube amp is run at full volume. You will occasionally see an original in the stage rig of a major artist. IF you could find an original offered for sale, you should probably sit down before inquiring about the price . . . The Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive pedal features Level, Tone, and O.D. controls.

FEATURES
  • Realistic tube overdrive
  • Responsive
  • Versatile

Seriously saturated tube amp tone in a sweet Dano box. How can you go wrong? Order the D-2 today!

This OD pedal is very versatile. If you want to add just a little boost and tube-like breakup on blues solos, it's in there. Or if you prefer a more over-the-top, hard edged, thick 70's kind of tone, that's easily dialed in too. I recommend you place it in the beginning of your effects path, but after your wah pedal. You will be amazed at how responsive this pedal is and how nice the two effects sound together. I use a Snark power supply for my pedal board, so noise or hum has never been a problem. Bottom line, you can spend a lot more money on an OD pedal, but why would or should you??? It's reliable, durable and most importantly it sounds great. And at this price anyone can afford it... It's a "no brainer", Buy it, you won't be sorry.
I have been playing professionally for over 35 years.

Yes, it's cheap. Yes, it adds some overdrive vibe. Maybe I just don't get what overdrive is. The problem is that I'd need to use an outboard eq after the D-2 to keep it from drastically altering the tone. I like the fuzzy quality of an overdrive but I don't want to lose the high end sparkle that I lose when I use this. Any guitar amp that has an overdrive channel is going to do a better job of keeping your tone where you want it. But in a pinch this will do. To get an idea of what I mean compare this to just using a tube preamp and you can tell right away how much the D-2 changes the overall tone.

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

It does'nt change the tone of your guitar which in its self is a rarity...it does have a distortion level adjustment which I barely have on...I place this pedal after my compressor which in combination gives a very clean smooth overdrive. The distortion can be over the top gritty if thats what you are after. It works great as a clean boost as well...I bought my first 5 at Musicians Friend delivered for under the price of 1 average bad sounding pedal...of all the distortion pedals I have used the cheaper D-2's are better than almost every higher priced overdrive/distortion pedal I have used in my 50 years of playing...the reason for buying so many? My friends think they are great too.I sold every one I had except 1 and I got another as a back up.The value is there. Thanks for the deals Musicians Friend

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is perfect for someone like me, a budget conscious strong hobbyist that does not make money by playing the guitar. This pedal puts really nice overdrive that has put a whole other level of tone on my amp. Can't use pedals for solid state amps with distortion channels? I put this pedal in front of my Marshall MG 30fx and it makes all four of the preset channels sound freakin' awesome. Thanks to these fab pedals, I can justify buying them and still save for my kids' colleges.

It does what it's supposed to do for a fantastic price. This is especially a great overdrive for someone on a budget who wants to ROCK! Somehow, I think I actually play faster when I kick it on. Well I can dream, can't I ? Just get the goofy thing already!

Seriously ?? only twelve bones for this one. Yes, it is just a basic overdrive, (not a distortion pedal), and that's exactly what it does,....simple. Much better than I was expecting.

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This was purchased to use inline with my Ibanez Gio 6 string bass. While it is designed for standard guitar, the pedal produces the desired effects that I was looking for, even in the lower range. I was pleasantly surprised with how well it performed. The level knob is a little more touchy than I would like, but it's an inexpensive pedal, and I'm sure the more expensive and higher end pedals are more tunable. The product does well considering the price and build. I would definitely recommend it for someone just wanting to play around with effects sounds on their instruments.

BOARD SET UP WITH THESE FAB SERIES PEDALS IN ONE
OF MY STUDIOS AND THEY SOUND AS GOOD AS PEDALS
COSTING MANY TIMES MORE. I KNOW I HAVE THOSE PEDALS ALSO. I DO NOT USE THEM FOR GIGGING BUT
I HONESTLY BELIEVE THEY WOULD HOLD UP.

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

A lot of the music I play is 70's classic hard rock. As I've developed as a guitar player I've realized that using straight ahead distortion is the wrong sound for certain songs. I realized that what I needed to add to my arsenal was a nice overdrive sound that gave me some breakup and boost but without crossing the line into distortion territory. Since I already own two Danelectro pedals (the FAB Distortion and FAB Chorus-both of which are awesome pedals, BTW) I decided I would buy the FAB Overdrive. This pedal was exactly what I was looking for. This pedal gave me some great classic rock tones when used with my Epiphone G-400 and Epiphone Les Paul Special I. (This pedal along with the P-90's in my Les Paul are an especially tasty combo!) All of the Danelectro FAB pedals are made of a tough plastic which I have found to be very durable. I see no need to jump down on and try to smash my pedals when I hit the footswitch as some other people must do, so I have never had a problem with the shells of these pedals breaking or cracking. I also like the bright LED lights on the Danelectro pedals. They leave no question as to whether or not the pedal is on. All in all I highly recommend this pedal if you are looking for a nice overdriven classic rock sound. For that matter, I recommend all of the Danelectro FAB pedals. They sound great and are affordable to boot. What more could you ask for?

I bought this for my son to learn with. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but wanted something that would give a good crunch. The D-2 Fab met both criteria! For the price you really can't go wrong. I may buy some other effects from Danelectro. Nice product.
